Ebben a topikban a vívás harcművészeti aspektusait szeretnénk megvitatni. Elsősorban a történelmi európai vívással, ezen belül szablyavívással szeretnénk foglalkozni, de minden más vívás képviselője is szívesen látott vendég a topikban.
Nagyon jó látni, hogy ennyien járnak a szegedi edzésre (14 főt számoltam: 1:19).
Kellemesen egységes a kép, jó sok fédert láttam (legalább 6 db-t), és sok vívónak van teljes HEMA-felszerelése. Nem véletlen, hogy a szeptemberi MHS versenyen olyan 6-8-10 fővel (!) szeretnének részt venni a szegediek. Ez igen!
"Érdekes látvány fogadja az embereket a Pláza melletti parkban szerdánként. A fémkardok egymásnak csapódó hangjához nincs fogható. A küzdelem viszont nem vérre megy, csupán az Ars Ensis egyesület tartja az edzéseit. A hosszúkard vívók edzőjével beszélgettünk.
Horváth András Csaba oktató elmondta, hogy 2003 óta létezik hazánkban az egyesület, ami összefogja az középkori kardvívás szerelmeseit. Szegedre öt évvel később, 2008-ban tette be a lábát, vagy éppen kardját a szervezet.
ELŐTÉRBEN A HAGYOMÁNYOK
Az egyesület tagjai leginkább a harcművészetre fókuszálnak, de kétségtelen, hogy a sportágának vannak hagyományőrző elemei. Ahogyan Csaba fogalmazott, középkori, kora újkori, több száz éves elméleti forrásokat használnak az oktatáshoz, így elengedhetetlen, hogy szerves részét képezze az oktatásnak a kardvívás hagyományainak őrzése.
VALÓSÁG VS FILMVILÁG
Ma már, az oktató saját elmondása szerint célirányosan találják meg őket, azaz olyan személyek keresik fel az egyesületet, akik a HEMA (történelmi európai harcművészet angol mozaik szava) iránt érdeklődnek. Ám olyan is akad még, akik azt a fajta izgalmat keresik a sportágban, amit a kardozós mozikban láttak. Ennek kapcsán érdemes ráébredni, hogy a valóság más, mint a filmeken.
VÉRALÁFUTÁSOKKAL TÉRHET HAZA A VÍVÓ
A sérülésektől nem nagyon kell tartani. Csaba megnyugtat minden jelentkezőt, hogy náluk a biztonság rendkívül fontos. Már az edzés elején felhívja arra a vívók figyelmét, hogy a gyűrűket, órákat vegyék le, mert azok balesetveszélyesek. Bemelegítenek, nyújtanak, hiszen sport lévén elengedhetetlen ez a fajta elővigyázatosság. Figyelnek egymásra, hiszen a cél, nem a másik fél földig kardozása. Mindazonáltal az edző arra is kitér, hogy ez is egy sport, így a sérülésnek itt is, mint például a fociban, kézilabdában, meg van az esélye. Náluk az eddig eltelt 13 év alatt a legsúlyosabb sérülés a térdkifordulás volt, amire egyébként focizás közben sokkal nagyobb esélye van az embernek, mint víváskor. Kisebb sérülések, mint zúzódások, feldagadt ujjak természetesen előfordulnak, de ez apró ár csupán azok számára, akik hosszú kardokkal akarják gyepálni egymást."
Eddig 121 db ob volt, ennek fényében kell értelmezni a 103 "bajnokot". Csak 1 példa.
"Tersztyánszky Ödön [...] kard- és tőrvívó, honvéd ezredes; polihisztor, kétszeres olimpiai bajnok, olimpiai ezüst- és bronz-, illetve Európa-bajnoki ezüstérmes, tizenháromszoros magyar bajnok..."
Tehát Precíz Ödön nem 13 bajnok, hanem 13 bajnoki cím büszke birtokosa volt.
R: "Hogyan alakult ki a szablyavívás mai technikája?"
Balogh Imre, szablyás oktató:
"A törökkori írásos emlékek nem voltak elegendők ahhoz, hogy sportként élesszük fel a bajvívást. Ezért mi a XIX. századi párbaj időszak fennmaradt dokumentumaiból indultunk ki."
Mondjuk, másoknak ez elég jól sikerült, már mint sportként feléleszteni a bajvívást.
"During the war I become the director of a prefectural Butokukai branch (a very good kendo position) but, after the war, due to the expulsion order (the Butokukai was dismantled by GHQ and all members purged from government positions), I lost my job. Then there was the kendo ban.
Robbed of my sword (i.e. profession) in my 40’s, the only thing I could do was live as a farmer: growing and eating my own vegetables, as well as selling them. However, even though my life had sunk to rock bottom, my passion for kendo continued to burn within.
When the military police were not around my comrades and I would go to parks or school yards (always changing location so not to be caught) and practice. The sound of clashing bamboo was not extinguished. Even in such a difficult situation (postwar occupied Japan) kendo saved me and gave me hope."
Vagy egyszerűen az amcsik elkönyvelték a kendó olyan militarista "izének",
a sinait-kiogit pedig "eladták" nekik "demilitarizált" sportként. ;-)
Ami viszont érdekes, hogy jóval a megszállás vége után, meg a beolvadás után (1954) még mindig írtak sinai-kiogi könyveket, sőt még versenyeket is rendeztek (1975).
"If you look at the history of kendo as told by the ZNKR (All Japan kendo federation) you would be mistaken in thinking that shinai-kyogi had a short life-span and was irrelevant to kendo in the long run. This isn’t true. Although the shinai-kyogi association was created in 1950 and merged with the new ZNKR in 1954, books continued to be written and shiai run for quite some time it seems. The book mentioned in the opening was published in 1965, showing that a full 11 years after the dissolution of the shinai-kyogi association there was still a market for manuals. More than that, just this last weekend (end of January 2012) I found reference to shinai-kyogi shiai results from 1975 in a shiai brochure… a full 21 years after the merge."
Annak ellenére, hogy az 1950-ben alapított "sportos" kendószövetség 1954-ben szépen beolvadt az Összjapán Kendószövetségbe (ZNKR), az átértelmezett kendó hatása még igen sokáig érezhető volt.

Kimondottan jók a sinai-kiogi versenyekről készült képek.
Shiaijo: - usually matches occur indoors, but outside is ok too; - whether held inside or out the area must be flat and have no obstructions; - the shiaijo is to be 6×7 meters and have a space of 1.5m between the middle and each player; - if you are outside you can mark the shiaijo boundaries with stones or paint; - if the shiaijo is raised it would be preferably if the boundaries were roped (like boxing)*;
* early all Japan championships also seem to have this feature
Shiai: - at the start of the match shinai must not be touching (a change from pre-war); - shiai were 3 points (pre-war this varied); - there will be 3 shinpan (apart from tenran shiai, there was almost only ever 1 shinpan,
sometimes 2); - time limits and the use of encho (and hantei) were defined.
Hansoku (foul): - violent behaviour (e.g. taiatari or leg sweeping); - use of shouts (i.e. kiai); - going out of bounds."
"... Those in bold are fundamental changes to kendo as it existed prior to or during the war: - fixing shiaijo sizes; - fixing of shinai weights and lengths; - definition of time limits; - creation of a more democracy i.e. males and females could practise and compete equally; - establishing 3 shinpan for all shiai; - disallowing violent actions, specifically foot sweeps; - creation of a ‘sporty’ image."
Szóval, akkoriban büntetés járt kiai-ért, de a kardos ütközésért vagy a lábsöprésért is.
Clothing: - clothes should be made of strong cloth, a tracksuit top and trousers should be worn; - girls may wear a skirt instead of trousers; - shiai held outdoors generally require the use of footwear. If the ground is safe then you
can use socks or go barefoot; - any colour may be freely worn but black doesn’t fit with the bogu well, so its banned; - clothing should be a little bit loose, not tight fitting;
Shinai: - shinai should be wrapped on the outside with leather (i.e. a fukuro-shinai); - shinai must be split in either 4, 8, 16, or more pieces; - shinai must be equal to or less than 3.8 in length and weights where set based on age/gender; - the kote-dome (i.e. tsuba) must be smaller than 3-sun and made of leather or rubber.
It can be of any shape.
Bogu: - bogu consists of a men, doate, and tebukuro (‘gloves’)* - names were also given in hiragana MASUKU (‘mask’ i.e. men), PROTEKUTA (‘protector’ i.e. dou),
and GURABU (‘glove’ i.e. kote);
* Note that the ‘tsuba’ has been renamed ‘kote dome,’ the kote ‘tebukuro’ (gloves), and other pieces given English-sounding alternatives in order to de-swordify the art and make it seem more sporty, much like the use of the name ‘shinai kyogi’ itself (see above). We could also surmise that this was done to placate GHQ as well."
Sinai-kiogi, avagy milyen volt a kendó az amerikai megszállás alatt?
"To say it another way: a modern and democratic sport was born out of the older kendo. At the end of the war, when both the outside pressure (GHQ) and self-reproach from inside kendo circles caused the breakup/dissolution of kendo (i.e. the Butokukai) the discipline was at a crossroads; it was at this time a chance was taken and the new sport was created. At that time the (kendo equipment) manufacturers and kendo exponents wanted to somehow (in any way possible) keep at least the essence of kendo alive but, because of the severity of the situation (the current state of destitution and poverty in post-war Japan combined with the strict law of occupied rule), kendo wasn’t allowed to continue as it was (i.e. it was banned by GHQ). Despite this situation, the involved parties continued to work ceaselessly in negotiations with the the occupied authority, gathering as much information and working with their total energy and concentration to leave the purity of kendo intact, the result of which was a version of kendo with modern elements added that we call shinai kyogi.”
"The aftermath of the war Kendo was banned but – obviously due the sheer number of people who had experience in it – not forgotten. During the banned period various groups continued to practise in secret anyway (for an example, see the article in ‘Kenshi247: selected articles 2008-2011′). A public effort was made to promote kendo at higher diplomatic levels. Often cited at this point is Sasamori Junzo sensei’s (Ono-ha itto-ryu soke) influence: educated in America (PhD from Denver University) and a fluent English speaker (and Christian priest) he worked with GHQ during the occupation period, and supported the re-introduction of kendo in educational circles (he was headmaster of various universities and eventually worked in the Education Ministry. He emerged in the post-war kendo community as the head of the Shinai Kyogi association, then eventually the university kendo association). Obviously wary about the militarism that was inherent in the immediate pre-war country controlled Butokukai, GHQ was seemingly very reticent to allow its restart. To battle this, the pro-kendo lobby introduced not ‘kendo’ but a new kendo-inspired sport called ‘shinai kyogi.’ Renamed, and without some of the more nationalist attributes, it wasn’t ‘kendo’ per-se, but it was to have a long lasting on the art."

Annyi biztos, hogy a srác helyében x évnyi Ars Ensis után én inkább valami saját kis csapatban gondolkodnék, és azt tanulnék, amihez épp kedvem van, hiszen most már rengeteg hasznos videó érhető el a neten.
