Indian Army Gorkhas

Following Indian independence in 1947, six Gurkha regiments remained with the Indian Army:

* 1st King George V's Own Gurkha Rifles (The Malaun Regiment)
* 3rd Queen Alexandra's Own Gurkha Rifles
* 4th Prince of Wales's Own Gurkha Rifles
* 5th Royal Gurkha Rifles (Frontier Force)
* 8th Gurkha Rifles
* 9th Gurkha Rifles"


Ezek szerint mégis csak a britektől örökölték a gurkha ezredeket a brit indiai hadsereg 1947-es felosztásakor. A tibeti menekültekből ettől függetlenül állíthattak fel csapatokat, nem is vitatom. De azok nem gurkhák, mivel a gurkhák nem Tibetből, hanem Nepálból származó hegyi harcosok.
