Piquet quickest again at Barcelona test


Nelson Piquet Jr today concluded a two-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.

It was an opportunity for Nelson and the team to continue their preparation work for the 2006 GP2 series, which gets underway next weekend in Valencia. Nelson again put in a strong performance over the two days, finishing fastest overall yesterday, and second fastest in this afternoon's session.

Yesterday, Nelson completed 50 laps, recording a fastest time of 1:23.315, unbeatable by his rivals. It was quite a good day although technical problems sidelined Nelson for the final hour of the day.

Today, Nelson continued set-up work, running several planned programmes and completed a further 72 laps. In this afternoon's session Nelson recorded the second fastest time, with a lap of 1:23.611.

"We've had another fairly good couple of days. We had limited running yesterday afternoon after we had a few problems but we've had a decent amount of time on track and I'm reasonably happy with how it went. We only have two more days left of testing now before the first race but the team is working really hard and everything keeps on improving."
