"K: És milyen gyorsan terjednek ezek a hullámok?
V: A Maxwell egyenletek szerint a hullámok sebessége független a forrás sebességétől...

K: ...ez a vízhullámoknál is így van.
V: ...és a megfigyelő sebességétől.

K: Ne már!
V: De igen. Ezt az állandó sebességet c betűvel szokás jelölni."

Ha Maxwell ilyeneket tudott volna, akkor Einsteinnek semmi szerepe nem lett volna a tudományban, nem végeztek volna M-M tipusú kisérleteket.

Egyébként nem igaz, hogy Einstein nem tudott az M-M kisérlet kimeneteléről, és ettől függetlenül alkotta meg a speciális relativitáselméletet.

Az 1905-ben írt művének angol fordításában az első oldalon található hivatkozás rá. Még ha nem is nevezi nevén, hogy mely kisérletekre gondol, akkor is tudható, mivel nem volt másfajta:

"Examples of this sort, together with the unsuccessful attempts to discover any motion of the earth relatively to the ``light medium,'' suggest that the phenomena of electrodynamics as well as of mechanics possess no properties corresponding to the idea of absolute rest. They suggest rather that, as has already been shown to the first order of small quantities, the same laws of electrodynamics and optics will be valid for all frames of reference for which the equations of mechanics hold good."
