Wearing the clothes of the other gender is a "one-way street" in our society. When a woman wears men's clothing (or women's clothing in men's styles), it’s "fashion" and totally acceptable. But if a man wants to wear something soft and silky like hosiery, it's considered "crossdressing," and there are social values that cause many people to disdain male crossdressing.

In reality, there are men who enjoy dressing with the intent of appearing totally as a woman, and it involves a lot more than just hosiery. However, there are many men who just want to have a wide range of choices in what kind of legwear they wear, including kinds typically considered "for women." They also want all of these choices to be perceived as nothing unusual. In other words, they want fashion freedom.

We joke that there are two kinds of people in the world -- those who have the "nylon gene" and those who don't (this applies to both sexes). People who like the feel of soft, silky fabrics have it. Those who are happy with cotton and wool don't have it. For women it doesn't matter; they can wear whatever they want, and usually don't even think about it. But for some men, wearing garments like nylon legwear can be emotionally upsetting because of how it is perceived in our society.

These men like the feeling and the practical benefits but find it particularly stressful because they constantly fear ridicule from the stigma associated with wearing anything considered as women's clothes. In fact the most common complaint that men expressed in our market research was embarrassment (actual or potential) in buying and wearing women's hosiery. They just wanted to wear legwear that they could honestly say was unisex or, better yet, made specifically for them.

ComfiLon legwear solves this dilemma. It provides the same fabrics as in quality women's hosiery, but the garment is tailored to men's dimensions and the package isn't suggestive of feminine apparel. Our customers are comfortable and confident, wearing legwear made specifically for men.
