No Dogon outside of the circle of Griaule's informants had ever heard of sigu tolo or po tolo... Most important, no one, even within the circle of Griaule informants, had ever heard or understood that Sirius was a double star [or according to Renard Pále,(6) even a triple one, with B and C orbiting A]. Consequently, the purported knowledge of the mass of Sirius B or the orbiting time was absent (van Beek 1991).

Nemrégiben Walter van Beek belga antropológus, aki 11 évet töltött a dogonok között, kimutatta, hogy Griaule adata egyedi: A Szíriusz kettős csillag? A néprajzi adatok egyértelműek. A dogonok természetesen ismerik a Szíriuszt, mint csillagot - végülis a legfényesebb csillag az égen. A csillagok ismerete nem fontos sem a mindennapi életben sem a vallásban. A Nap állása és a Hold fázisai szorosabban kapcsolódnak a dogon gondolkodáshoz.
Griaule informátorai körén kívül egyetlen dogon sem hallott sem Sigu Toloról, Sem Po Toloról… A legfontosabb, hogy senki, még Griaule informátorai köréből sem hallotta vagy érti, hogy a Szíriusz kettős csillag lenne (vagy Renard Pále szerint hármas, ahol B és C kering A körül) Ennek következtében a Szíriusz B tömegére vagy keringésére vonatkozó tudás is hiányzott. (van Beek, 1991)

Igaz, hogy 15 hónap alatt, de megvan a válasz: Griaule És a mesélő dogon is megvolt, a neve Ambara.
Nem állítom, hogy ezzel a pontot is feltettem a téma végére, bárki tévedhet vagy lódíthat.
