Danica Patrick enters 2017 NASCAR season with sponsorship problems

In a statement provided by Stewart-Haas Racing on Tuesday, the organization said it was still in discussions with Nature’s Bakery about how driver Danica Patrick’s primary sponsorship will look in 2017.

When the deal with Nature’s Bakery was announced at the end of the 2015 season, it was portrayed as a three-year deal for the Nevada-based snack food company to appear as primary sponsor on Patrick’s No. 10 team with the possibilities of extensions.

The company adorned Patrick’s car in 28 races in 2015.

Patrick did not address the sponsorship issue in her appearance Tuesday afternoon at the NASCAR Media Tour in uptown Charlotte, N.C, but when she arrived, she was outfitted in a driver suit featuring logos from another sponsor, TaxAct.

In the statement, SHR remained committed to its four Cup series entries this season.

“Stewart-Haas Racing remains focused on its preparation for the 2017 NASCAR season where it will again field four entries in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series while also introducing a full-time NASCAR Xfinity team,” the statement said.
