Egy másik tanulmány azt mutatta ki, hogy az ázsiai anyaági leszármazás, pontosabban az ázsiai mtDNA markerek, ha alacsony %-ban is, de kimutathatóak a mai magyarságban is. Az ázsiainak tartott M mtDNA-haplogroup gyakoriságát a teljes magyar mintában pl. 5 %-ra teszi:

"the presence of haplogroup M found in approximately 5% of the total suggests that an Asian matrilineal ancestry, even if in a small incidence, can be detected among modern Hungarians."
