Hi,

To get a pre-paid Vodafone mobile broadband, a passport will be enough. It's quite cheap (the stick costs HUF 5,000  then you can buy 3 GB data for HUF4,000)

It's quite fast and available all the country around.

Try to find a McDonalds.. it's free but generally slow.

There is some free public access point in mals or plazas, somewhere needs a registration (but it's free), for example inside the Europark.

I do not use hotspots, rather my own cablenet, and mobile net when neccessary.

"Can you access it everywhere or only in some most popular restaurants?"

Where you see the "free wifi" sign in restuarants, they probably will provide you free wifi, although in most cases you have to ask for the password from the staff.

" it is the slowest possible connection in EU."

How fast do you want?

szerintem ez az "érdeklődő" topic egy nagy-nagy átverés :)

nem tudom, hogy mi a célja, de lehet rajta ötletelni, az egyszerű reakcióvizsgálattól a bosszantani akarásig.

amúgy nyithat valaki topikot hsz-ek nélkül is?

In Budapest it must be easy to find one. In major country towns it is probably harder but certainly not impossible.

But in real life - how do you feel - can you get wifi really everywhere or it is rather hard to find a spot?

13. Hungary

Hungary tied with Israel for 13th place with an average peak Internet speed of 35.9 megabits per second, which was 12 percent faster than the previous quarter. The global average was 18.4 Mbps.

The country's fast broadband access should make it easy for citizens there to stream online video, such as the hundred thousand-plus YouTube tutorials on how to solve the Rubik's Cube, which was invented by fellow Hungarian Erno Rubik.

Hello, I heard that in Hungary it is almost impossible to get internet access and when you get it, it is the slowest possible connection in EU. Is it true?

if it's not true, then could anyone here tell me more about pubic WiFi in Hungary. Is it always free? Can you access it everywhere or only in some most popular restaurants? Is it only in Budapest or you can find it elsewhere too?

Or maybe there is anything else you can say about WiFi in this country?
