GARY Megson believes Baggies new boy Zoltan Gera is just his 'cup of tea'.
The attacking midfielder arrives at The Hawthorns with German legend Lothar Mattheus, who made the Hungarian captain of his country, reportedly saying he works too hard.
But Megson, renowned for his Albion side's work ethic, yesterday (Thursday) quipped: "That is not possible at The Hawthorns".
"Zoltan comes with a great reputation," said Megson.
"He's adaptable and can play in all the midfield positions.
"Lothar Mattheus said he works too hard, which is a strange thing, and it's not possible to work too hard for me.
"But he has a high work ethic, he's quick, has good ability and we are hopeful he will be a good signing for us.
"He wanted to come across and give himself an opportunity in the Premiership. I think it's the best league in the world. A lot of people believe that as does Zoltan."
The Baggies manager has urged fans to be patient with the £1.5 million recruit, who will need time to settle in and learn the language.
MEGSON: "He is similar to Igor Balis in that his English will make life more difficult for him. So he has to be given a little more time before we start judging him."
And Megson drew parallels with former Albion ace Igor Balis, who also took time to bed in in the Black Country after his move from Slovakia.
"It's difficult because we can't have a conversation with him," he added.
"It's also difficult for Zoltan. He is similar to Igor Balis in that his English will make life more difficult for him.
"So he has to be given a little more time before we start judging him."
The Albion manager also revealed his disappointment at being without Jason Koumas, who netted ten goals last term, for the first four Premiership games due to suspension.
But he is expecting Gera and the rest of his midfield men to contribute goals in the Welsh wizard's absence.
"We need more goals all the way through. I'm upset Jason won't be available for the first four games - it was a silly thing that he did," said Megson.
"He's been on fire in pre-season so it's difficult to accept. I'm sure he'll chip in with goals.
"Jonathan Greening has great ability, a great touch and strikes a good ball but his goalscoring record isn't as good as it should be.
"We will expect the same from him, Andy Johnson and Zoltan."
