"As leader of the early-'80s West Coast industrial group Minimal Man, Patrick Miller helped pave the way for other likeminded artists emerging from the art punk underground. Miller was an art-school graduate who began making music as an on-again, off-again collaborator with San Francisco's Tuxedomoon. Shortly thereafter he began Minimal Man, which by comparison was colder and darker in its approach. Minimal Man would continue through the '80s, but Miller's heavy drug use curtailed the output of the seminal group and by the 1990s the group was effectively defunct. Miller was eventually able to rein in his demons, but didn't return to music-making. His years of excess left him with hepatitis C, which eventually led to his death in December of 2003."
Az 1985-ös Minimal Man EP az egyik legsúlyosabb és -nyomasztóbb zene, amit az utóbbi időben hallottam. John Zorn kavart fel ennyire legutóbb, ahogyan ez a 4 dal... Erősen ajánlom mindenkinek!

Yes, we are now in Budapest. We played last night on a boat anchored in the Danube, nicely refurbished club/restaurant complex. Dressing room was in the former engine room, all cleaned up and polished. Yo ho ho. How nautical.
The show was pretty good, friends. The crowd was smallish but very warm and enthusiastic.

Péntek este túlzás nélkül kultúrtörténeti esemény színtere lesz az A38 Hajó. A több mint negyedszázados Tuxedomoon, az elektronikus zenének a Kraftwerkhez és a Devóhoz hasonló hatású úttörõje elõször ad koncertet Magyarországon. A kollektíva zenei skálája az új hullámos poptól a dzsesszen át az art-rockig terjed és fellépéseik nem egyszerûen koncertek, de igazi színpadi produkciók is egyben. Az 1977-es alakuló felállásban felvett új album, a Cabin in the Sky bemutatója például egy mozielõadás keretében idézi meg Miles Davist, a Radioheadet, Debussyt és Michael Nymant, valamint a német elektronikus zene nagyjait. A mellékelt rövidke, kifejezetten Paolo Contés hanganyag nyomaiban talán megmutat valamit a zenekar hangzásából. A Tuxedomoon elõtt a modern és kortárs-zenei gyökerekbõl építkezõ magyar zenekar, az Ion lép színpadra.

One of the most emblematic bands from the '80s has just reformed after fifteen years. The original line-up of Peter Principle, Blaine Reininger and Steven Brown is joined by Luc van Lieshout (who played with the band from 1983 on) and visual artist Bruce Geduldig. Tuxedomoon's unique and eclectic blend of rock, classical, jazz & electronic elements has never been as relevant as it is today - and CABIN IN THE SKY promises to be their most beautiful album since the recently-reissued 'DESIRE'.
Sajnos nem lesz - legalábbis egyelőre úgy tűnik. Beszéltem a szervezőkkel, úgyhogy hiteles az info. Akartak jönni a Szigetre is, de a kedves szigetes koncertszervezőség elutasította őket (nyilván nem elég profitábilis a Church.) Ennyit Sziámiékról 2004-ben. Éljen a Chumbawamba meg a Bloodhoung Gang. No comment.
