Vincent utolsó képe
129 years ago today, Vincent van Gogh died of a gunshot wound in Auvers, France. This landscape, described by the artist's brother-in-law as a "forest scene full of sun and light," was probably the last painting he ever made. It's a work remarkable not only for its likely distinction as the artist's last, but also for its radical abstraction. Van Gogh focused his view so tightly on the gnarled old roots—eliminating the sky, the ground, even the tree itself—that the shapes and colors lose connection with reality, evoking a distant, deeper world.
