Előszőr én is azt hittem, hogy a Magna Canta az Enigma műve. Nem tudom hol olvastam, de kiderült, hogy nem. Semmi köze hozzá, meg is vettem az egyik albumukat, a Deep Spirits-t. Az albumon több szerző neve is fel van tüntetve, de akik végülis csinálják a projektet, az Junior Deros és Ray Frederico producerek.
Tudnám ajánlani a Lesiemet (www.lesiem.de), és a Magna Cantát!
Utóbbiról nem sokat lehet tudni, de azt igen, hogy a Sadeness után nem sokkal jelent meg a hasonló gregorián stílusú Hymn. Majd 2000 körül ismét jelentkeztek, de immáron albummal, amit 2 évvel később meg is ismételtek.
Mind két együttes, de főleg a Lesiem inkább az Erához hasonlítható.

A Delerium-ról van valami bővebb. Akkor hallottam először róluk, amikor a Börtönpalota című filmben felcsendült a Silence, aztán persze rögtön megvettem a soundtrack-et, é slehullt a lepel. Ja, a film zenéje egyébként iszonyú állat (bár elég eklektikus)

A 3. és 4. Enigmán a férfi vokálokat ki énekli? Én eddig azt hittem, hogy Cretu mester, de most olvasva az alábbi ismertetőket, már kételkedek, és lehet, hogy Andru Donalds?
És a Sandra számokban ki a férfi vokál? Az se Cretu? (pl. Maria Magdalena: "You're the teacher of the night")
Nem tudom észrevettétek-e, hogy a 4. Enigma 4. számának (Smell of desire)"szövege" szinte teljes egészében a Mea Culpából van?
OK nem anyira de a velemenyt egy angol Web lapon olvastam amikor emlitett stilushoy yeneket kerestek.Era 2 mar messze elrugaszkodik enigmatol adiemus fele, nem rossz de az elso album jobb volt.
A gregorian albumot meg tavaj telen vettem nem voltak rajta bonus trackek.A Metallica syam feldolgozasa tok emlekeztet a Vangelis Conquest of P...-re.Bar a ritmus.
Én sem tartom még véletlenül sem enigmastilusúnak a Voices c. lemezt. Bár szívesen hallgatok ilyen stilusú zenéket is. Jelen pillanatban úgy vélem az Era áll legközelebb az Enigmához.
Sem Vangelis - Voices, sem JMJ - Metamorphoses nem Enigma-stílusú.
Miért akarod, hogy mindenki Enigma-stílusú legyen...?
Tudom, nem akarod. Szóval nem. Nem Enigma-stílusú. Ha ugyan egyre gondolunk, amikor Enigma-stílusról beszélünk.
Viszont van egy zenész-csapat, aki Metamorphosis címmel kiadott egy albumot, na, az igen, az Enigma-stílusú, annyira az, hogy Cretu mester alkotásának véltem.
Arra kértél, hogy szóljak hozzá... Hát tessék. Bár jól tudod, hogy nekem ezek a zenék nem nagyon jönnek be, azért fölhozom egy kicsit a topikodat, bár nagy valószíniséggel el fog süllyedni hamarosan... :-)

The traditional music of Western Africa and Ireland is fused into a
seamless blend by the Afro-Celt Sound System. The band's
exciting performances have become a popular attraction at the
WOMAD festival in Reading, England since 1995, while their
1996 debut album, Volume 1, remains one of the most successful
examples of cultural exchange.
The Afro-Celt Sound System brings together top-ranked
musicians including traditional Irish vocalist Iarla O'Lionard,
uilleann pipers Davy Spillane (Moving Hearts) and Ronan
Browne, whistle player James McNally (the Pogues), Kenyan
nyatiti player Ayub Ogada and Baaba Maal band members
Kauwding Cissakho and Massamba Diop. Jo Bruce, the son of
British bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce (Cream), rounds out the group
on keyboards and electronic programming. Several tracks on the band's debut album, produced by
Grammy-nominated producer Simon Emmerson, featured members of Shoonglenifty on mandolin,
bongos, banjo, guitar and fiddle. Released initially on the EMD/Real World label, Volume 1 was
issued in the U.S. by Caroline Records. The Afro-Celt Sound System made their U.S. concert
debut in July 1997. Their second album, Volume 2: Release, was finally issued in 1999 by Real
World.
Az új évezred elején új zenei stílust teremteni nem
igazán könnyű feladat. Az is előfordulhat, hogy ami
először eredetinek tűnik, arról is kiderül később,
hogy nem is annyira az. Ez az album azonban
fenekestül felforgatja a popzenét, konfrontálva azt a
VII. sdzázad gregorián dallamaival. Első hallásra
furcsának tűnhet eme két stílus keresztezése, de
aki meghallgatjaaz albumot, rájön, hogy nagyon is
összehozható. 12, klasszikus zenei gyökerekkel
rendelkező angol énekes fogott össze Frank Petersonnal, a sikeres

Enigma, was the brainchild of
Frank Peterson and Michael Cretu.
The revolutionary idea was to mix
monastic or Gregorian chants with
dance beats and rhythms. And
from this idea came the unique single Sadeness,
which announced Enigma to the world. The song
was plagued by controversy, receiving criticism
especially from Churches who disapproved of
religious Gregorian chants with modern music
and sexual references (the title itself is a
wordplay on sadness, the 'sade' referring to the
Marquis de Sade where the word sadistic comes
from). Because Cretu and Peterson used pseudonyms, much speculation was made as
to exactly who was behind the project. The only reason we know today, is because a
court-case was levelled against the group by a German choir for using the monk chants
without permission. The case was dismissed though as the chants were considered to
be in the public domain, but through that we were made aware of Cretu and Peterson
being behind the project.

However, this did not heed the success and popularity of Enigma. The resulting debut
album MCMXC a.D. (which is Roman numerals for the year 1990, in the Year of our
Lord) swept the world and literally created a new genre in music, popularly known as
Enigmatic music. A number of groups adopted the style of Enigma with mixing chants
and modern music, most notably Deep Forest, Sacred Spirit and b-tribe.
Enigma's primary female singer is Sandra, and the woman who intones all the sayings on
the first three albums is British-born Louisa Stanley. However, what makes Enigma
different from the mainstream is in the novel use of samples and chants, both ethnic and
religious opposite a remarkable use of technological instruments.
The trademark 'instrument' of Enigma is a digitally-slowed sample of the shakuhachi, a Japanese flute. This instrument weaves
its way throughout the album and is popular amongst many Enigmatic bands.
Shortly after the release of this surprisingly successful first album in 1990, Michael Cretu and Frank Peterson decided to go
their separate ways. Frank returned to Hamburg, Germany and produced the album by Gregorian which was released in 1991.
Michael Cretu remained in Ibiza, Spain to continue work there in his sophisticated home-studio called A.R.T.

Cretu continued composing and producing Enigma on his own (with some assistance lyrics-wise from Daivd Fairstein),
releasing Enigma 2: the CROSS of Changes and Enigma 3: Le Roi est mort, VIVE le Roi! (which is French for "The
King is Dead, long live the King!"). The two albums did exceptionally well around the world (especially the second which
spawned the hit-single Return to Innocence), but neither ever achieved the success of the first, breathtaking album.
The first trilogy was thus finished and Michael Cretu signed a contract to produce five more albums under the Enigma label, in
three year intervals (which has been characteristic of Enigma). Released on 17 January 2000, The Screen Behind the
Mirror, signified a new beginning — an album which took a slightly different approach but using inherently familiar Enigma
elements. The first single Gravity of Love (which, like the album, is centred around a sample from the Carl Orff song O
Fortuna) has already been released. A slightly new line-up on vocals for the album includes the Cretu-project Andru Donalds,
and on two songs the voice of Ruth-Ann (from the group Olive) features. Lousia Stanley, is also unfortunately no longer
involved in the project, being replaced by Elisabeth Houghton.
It is definite that Frank Peterson will no longer be working with Enigma or Michael Cretu.
