Iker Casillas (Real Madrid): Well, 'Saint Iker' finally got his wish. Not only did Madrid stride with barely a look backwards towards the Liga title, but he also won the coveted 'Zamora' trophy for the top Primera goalkeeper. Even putting aside his team's championship credentials, he deserved it. The stats did not lie: many of Madrid's clean sheets were down to him even more than they were the back four. Probably his best season to date, and that is saying something.
Defenders
Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid): Of the Madrid defence, Ramos was top dog. While the likes of Pepe took on more prominence towards the end of the season, it was Ramos' exuberance that really set the back four in motion, particularly prior to Christmas. A powerful influence both at the front and the back, Ramos can look back on what was a successful campaign, even taking into account the odd disciplinary issue or loss of focus.
Diego Godín (Villarreal): Godín came to Villarreal almost under cover of darkness: the likes of Rio Mavuba, Giuseppe Rossi and Diego López all attracted considerably more fanfare. But however inauspicious his arrival may have been, his season proved to be a resounding success. Once he was able to displace the likes of Cygan and Fuentes in the starting line-up, the youngster proved himself more than capable of making the step up from Nacional de Montevideo to the rigours of the Primera with a series of confident performances.
Fernando Amorebieta (Athletic): Like Godín, Amorebieta isn't the most experienced of stoppers, but he has nonetheless the bearing of a key defender already. The Venezuelan-born Basque broke through from the cantera to the first team in 2005 but saved his best campaign for this year. Starting 34 games, he was largely responsible for the much-improved showing of the Bilbao back line this season: the Basques only conceded 43 times all season.
Joan Capdevila (Villarreal): Capdevila is the oldest of the four defenders, and in many ways the most accomplished. The former Deportivo left-back had a brilliant debut season at the Madrigal - along with Godín he was integral in the second-half of the season's march towards the runners-up spot. Euro 2008 awaits.
Midfielders
Andrés Iniesta (Barcelona): Barcelona's season was disappointing, but Iniesta proved himself once more to be vital for both club and country in what, on an individual level, must be considered a successful campaign. There's every chance that he's a future blaugrana captain in the making, and despite the impending threat of a clear-out he'll certainly be at Camp Nou for some time to come.
Marcos Senna (Villarreal): He's already pledged to tell his grandkids about scoring a truly memorable goal from the halfway line against Betis, but this last campaign must be considered memorable for more reasons than that. He's a part of the furniture at the Madrigal, and a look at his dominant performances this season prove exactly why.
Ariel Ibagaza (Mallorca): 'El Caño' has been a welcome influence back at San Moix since returning from Atlético in 2006 so much so that he's already risen to the ranks of vice-captain. Despite playing in the midfield he is the third-top Liga scorer of all-time on the island - although Dani Güiza is coming up fast behind - and five goals this season are testament to that. His is a dynamic style of play that suited the likes of Arango and Güiza to a tee.
Forwards
Sergio 'Kun' Agüero (Atlético Madrid): In my formation, Kun's playing just off the forwards, but he showed this year even more than last that he has striker's instinct of his own, hitting one more goal than even Diego Forlán. At the age of just 19 he has the world at his feet: should he improve on this season's showings then what he can achieve is limitless, for this year was one of fantastic performances.
Luis Fabiano (Sevilla): Luis tailed off badly towards the end of the campaign, but such were his early-season strikse that he nonetheless remains linked with a host of bigger clubs. In the end, a tally of 24 goals in 28 starts is highly respectable, and his link-up play was, too.
Daniel Güiza (Mallorca): A remarkable campaign for the ex-Getafe man. He deservedly earned a Spain call-up on the strength of a 27-goal haul - none from the penalty spot, remember - as part of a lethal attacking force along with the likes of Juan Arango and Pierre Webó.
Manager
Unai Emery (Almeria): The youngster has won himself a contract with Valencia after guiding Liga newcomers UD Almería not only to safety, but also to a respectable top-half position. What's more, they did it with boundless energy and morale, and without sacrificing their peculiarly physical, 4-3-3 style. How he fares in the pressure-cooker that is the Mestalla remains to be seen, but there's no denying that the 36-year-old has earned it.
Substitutes
Antonio 'Toño' Rodríguez (Racing): Toño's best season so far is a major contributory factor to his side's entry in the UEFA Cup for next season.
Ezequiel Garay (Racing): Garay, meanwhile, may not quite have hit the heights of 2006-07, but he was still a component of Racing's great side of this season, winning a move to Real Madrid for his troubles.
Fabricio Coloccini (Deportivo): A move elsewhere surely beckons for Coloccini, whose move towards the centre as part of Miguel Angel Lotina's 5-4-1 gambit saw his performances improve dramatically.
Santiago 'Santi' Cazorla (Villarreal): Santi is going to Euro 2008 after a brilliant season back at Villarreal. His stock continues to rise.
José María 'Guti' Gutiérrez (Real Madrid): At times he wasn't even a regular at the Bernabéu, and he has a tendency to drift out of games, but the number of killer passes bears testament to his talents.
Raúl González Blanco (Real Madrid): Raúl's best season in years coincided with one of Madrid's best, too. Inspirational stuff from the captain.
Nihat Kahveci (Villarreal): Nihat is almost recapturing the form that made him such a superstar at Real Sociedad. Euro 2008 awaits him.
No doubt everyone has their own picks for Team of the Season, so why not add your own below? Feel free to include a coach and substitutes as well, or just stick with the first eleven. The choice is yours.
Puerta sigue "en situación crítica" tras 36 horas hospitalizado Hát ez nagyon nem jó hír. Nem is tudom, hogy lehet ilyenkor bl-re, meg szuperkupára készülni. Borzalom.
