I know many of us are collectively struggling and have been for a while as the gears of a capitalist based society continue to grind us up into sausage, served to a select few at the top. Art and music feel like a luxury, though it is also one of the only things that has pulled me through the darkest moments of my life.
I know what it feels like to want to support music (even digitally), showing a small token of my appreciation for it, and yet coming up with $7, or more like $10 or $12 these days for a digital release, is way outside many of our budgets. So I often listen a couple times and try to forget about how much I love it, and how I wish I could support it. I know most artists and musicians struggle to pay bills, let alone buy music. Bár én jobbára underebb dolgokat posztolok ide és a ropik neve is inkább ezt predesztinálja, de igazából bármilyen elektronikus zenei poszt elfér itt, kettőnkön kívül úgyse olvassa senki. :)
Nem tudom jó helyen járok-e, de nem találtam aktívan működő külön elektronikus zenés topic-ot, szóval ide írnám:
Az új BT album egyszerűen elképesztően jó, aki szereti az dallamosabbb downtempo/ambient és IDM/glitch műfajú elektronikus zenét, annak mindenképpen ajánlom. Nem hittem volna, hogy 2023-ban még ennyire jó lemezt fogok BT-től hallani. Eddig is egy zseninek tartottam, de amit ezen a lemezen csinált... már azt kell hogy mondjam, hogy megüti az eredeti, első This Binary Universe szintjét is akár, igen, a legnagyobb, legendás albumának szintjét is, ami igencsak nagy szó. Végre, 2006 óta egy ilyen lemezre vártam tőle. Ami nem tetszett az If stars are eternal-ban, az _-ban vagy az Everything...-ben, az itt mind hiányzik, de ami meg jó bennük, az mind itt van. Sőt a full ambient lemezire is kapunk utalásokat. Mintha az egész TBU sorozat minden albumára lenne utalás, de mindegyikből az erősségek vannak itt a gyengeségek helyett. Pl. az eredeti 2006-os TBU lemezhez hasonlóan itt is nagyon kidolgozott, részletes a IDM/glitch effektek és a poszt-rock elemek keveréke, érzelmes, de mégis elég absztrakt, aztán itt vannak azok a nyugalmas, de gyöngyörű ambient zongoraszólamok az Everything...-ről, de kapunk full csöndes ambienteket is a Between Here and You stílusában, arról nem is beszélve, hogy a 18 perces nyitószám eléggé az Artifacture-re hajaz a 2016-os _-ról (azaz, hosszú ambient intro, IDM és dallam, majd hosszú ambient outro), amit mellesleg rommá hallgattam évek óta (mármint azt a dalt, nem az egész lemezt), de mégis azt tudom mondani, hogy ez a dal, a The Turing Test, talán még annál is jobb. A Berlin egyszerűen egy csoda, a lemez toronymagas legjobb dala, csodás zongoraszólamok, az a 10 perc 3-nak érződik. A Time Moves So Fast is mestermű, a szinte világzenei hatású kórushangok és az IDM ütemek egymással tökéletesen rezonálnak, rettentően részletelt, kidolgozott, de a poszt-rock Embers, mint a legérzelmesebb dal az albumon is szintén BT legjobb arcát mutatja, ezzel a minőséggel nem érződik csöpögősnek sem. Persze azt nem mondom, hogy eléri a Good Morning Kaia szintjét, de hát a Good Morning Kaia az BT legjobb dala vagy minimum a The Antikythera Mechanism utáni második legjobb. Meg annak a személyes hátterét persze ez nem is múlhatja felül.
Szóval összességében nem mondom, hogy ez jobb, mint az első This Binary Universe, de még soha nem ért hozzá ilyen közel BT. Bizonyos szempontból még jobb is, az biztos, hogy kevésbé "zajos", kevésbé glitch-es, de azért itt nincsenek olyan dinamikus nagyzenekai meg jazz elemeket, mint ott, viszont más szempontból meg megüti azt a szintet, bizony.
És a legjobb az egészben, hogy a lemez hiába ilyen borzasztóan hosszú, 100 perc, mégis az ember azt szeretné, hogy még tovább tartson. A 2020-as évek legjobb lemeze nálam eddig. Persze nem szeretném túlhypeolni, aki nem BT rajongó, annak nem biztos, hogy úgy fog tetszeni, mint nekem. De az biztos, hogy az igencsak vérszegény Metaversial soha nem hittem volna, hogy ilyen jó lemezt tud kiadni egyszer. Gondolom ezek után jön egy újabb These Hopeful Machines-féle kommersz pop lemez, ahogy szokta, mindig oda-vissza ugrál alter-IDM és pop közt, de nem baj, azért meghallgatom azt is, persze abból az én ízlésemnek inkább a 90-es évekbeli lemezei felelnek meg.
Mindenesetre aki szerette a This Binary Universe-t (és hát azt hogy is lehet nem szeretni), annak ez kihagyhatatlan. Bár a nagy rajongók már nyilván hallották az utóbbi 2 hónapban.
The periodic table jumble codename that is 2xirtam (aka the duo of Lee Anthony Norris(Norken) and Frank Rumpelt) debuted the remarkable Quantized Memories and it appears that in that time, their imaginative breadth has been fired up as if by exploding supernovae. Quantum Worlds continues those previous machinations, and to say that it’s an, uh, quantum leap forward from their opening salvo is to damn with faint praise. Who’s responsible for what across these seven tracks is unclear, and, frankly, it doesn’t matter: Norris and Rumpelt are so in sync it’s scary, seemingly able to both complement and augment each other’s textural hues to a telepathic degree.The net effect is nigh on stunning."
The duo of Lee Anthony Norris(Norken) and Frank Rumpelt, recording as 2xritam, embrace this approach unreservedly. Norris is one of electronica’s long-established journeymen, having made his mark back in the far-flung 90s with both his Metamatics projects and the vital signs he posted across his highly respected Neo Ouija imprint; he continues to be hyperactive in the extreme, recording under numerous aliases for his own Neotantra and Fantasy Enhancing labels. Colleague Rumpelt has kept a lower profile but has maintained a steady presence since the late 90s cloaked under his own collection of disguises, operating effectively along a minimal techno grid of scattered 12’s and digital-only editions. Together as 2xritam, the duo revel in a marriage made in bleep heaven: thorny glades of low-end pulses compete against soaring moogified atmospheres amid an often intense conflagration of systemic pattern logistics and windswept drones."
