van Bommel hints at Spurs switch
Friday, 02 April 2004

by Rob Lancaster
PSV midfielder Mark van Bommel has admitted he is due to hold transfer talks with Tottenham Hotspur in the near future.
Spurs have been on the trail of the Dutch international for some time, although they face stiff competition from German outfit Schalke for his signature.

However, van Bommel has now hinted that England is his preferred destination when he decides to leave his homeland in the summer.

"I know how good the Premier League is and it would be very nice to play there because the level of football is so high," he stated.

"Tottenham is a big club and a sleeping giant. We are going to hold talks in a few weeks and see what happens.

"I have no clear view of the club at the moment, but I am going to speak with Mr Pleat in a few weeks and see what they have planned."

Van Bommel added: "I know there have been rumours about me going to Germany, but Tottenham fans can sleep easily at night - I want to play in The Premiership."

Spurs caretaker boss David Pleat admitted van Bommel was one of a number of players the club were keen on signing.

"He is one of the players we might be thinking about in the summer," said Pleat.

PSV planning Van raid

PSV Eindhoven are looking to put together a package to tempt Fulham goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar back to Holland.
The 33-year-old has been a consistent performer since joining Fulham back in 2001, but reports are suggesting he is ready to end his career in his homeland.

PSV are in desperate need of a top class keeper, with Ronald Waterreus moving on in the summer, and coach Guus Hiddink has highlighted Holland's number one as the perfect choice.

Van der Sar has a further season to run on his deal with Fulham, but it is being suggested he wants another crack at European football, in particular the UEFA Champions League, something which The Whites are unlikely to be able to offer.

Unless something startling happens between now and the end of the season, PSV seem set to secure a place in Europe's premier club competition next term - which would provide Hiddink with the financial muscle to put together a package to lure van der Sar to the Philips Stadion.

Fulham would be loath to lose their number one, but a decent offer combined with his reported desire to move on could well see a deal struck in the summer.

Dutch ace to visit trio

PSV Eindhoven captain Mark van Bommel is set to run the rule over Schalke, Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham with all three keen to acquire his services.
The Bundesliga duo Schalke and Borussia Dortmund along with Premiership outfit Tottenham have all registered their interest in the star with an offer.

Van Bommel, who played the full 90 minutes in Holland's goalless draw with France on Wednesday, is thought to favour a move to Germany due to its close proximity to Eindhoven, according to Dutch media.

Gelsenkirchen-based Schalke is just over the border, meaning van Bommel's family may not need to relocate, while Dortmund is also in the North West of the country.

Schalke's ambition is also a major plus for the 26-year-old, with the side recruiting heavily for next term having already signed Brazilian goal-getter Ailton for the summer.

Newcastle United are also thought to admire the tough-tackling midfielder, but Sir Bobby Robson's side are yet to enter the bidding for the in-demand Holland international.

A piszkos anyagiak miatt gondolod?

Tuesday, 30 March 2004

by Gerrit van Leeuwen
Holland international Mark van Bommel's list of admirers keeps on growing with German club Borussia Dortmund the latest to register their interest.
Fellow Bundesliga outfit Schalke and Premiership club Tottenham have already had bids rejected by van Bommel's club PSV Eindhoven but the talented midfielder seems destined to leave Philips Stadion in the summer.

Dortmund have entered the hunt as it seems their influential playmaker Tomas Rosciky will quit the Westfalenstadion too this summer and boss Matthias Sammer has earmarked van Bommel as a replacement.

Van Bommel is still under contract at PSV until 2005 and the club have rejected Spurs' offer, thought to be in the region of €2 million, and Schalke's, thought to be €5 million, so Dortmund will have to improve on those bids if they want to land their man.

Bazz megint kikaptunk... Most a Willem II vert meg minket.

Willem II Tilburg - PSV Eindhoven 3-1
56' [1 - 0] Tom Caluwe
74' [2 - 0] van den Eeda
80' [2 - 1] Vonlanthen
90' [3 - 1] van den Eeda

Hoflandet a 73'ban kiszórták.

Schalke fail with van Bommel bid
Saturday, 27 March 2004

by Gerrit van Leeuwen
Schalke have upped the stakes in the race for Tottenham target Mark van Bommel, but PSV Eindhoven have snubbed their latest offer of €5 million.
Tottenham have been tracking van Bommel for over a year and skysports.com confirmed on Friday that their initial bid, believed to be in the region of €2 million, had been rejected by PSV.

The Eindhoven club's president Harry van Raaij informed Spurs that the channels of negotiation would be kept open, provided the London side come back with a suitable offer.

Schalke have also held a long-term interest in the Dutch international midfielder and it would appear they were sparked into action by news of Spurs' bid for van Bommel.

However, the ambitious German side have been told their bid falls short of PSV's valuation - with the Dutchmen mindful a bidding war could ensue in the summer with Spurs, as well as Aston Villa, jostling for position in the race for one of Europe's most vaunted midfielders.

Lisbon leading Kezman chase
Saturday, 20 March 2004

by Gerrit van Leeuwen
Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon are believed to be leading the chase for PSV Eindhoven hit-man Mateja Kezman.
The 24-year-old is considering his future at PSV and is thought to be keen on a new challenge.

The striker's contract runs until 2005 and he has so far stalled over talks over a new deal at the Phillips Stadion.

The Serbo-Montenegrin international is regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe and there is sure to be a mad scramble for his signature should he leave PSV.

The likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool are all thought to be admirers of Kezman and Birmingham City are the latest club to be linked with the former Partizan Belgrade ace.

Reports in Holland suggest that Sporting Lisbon are so far the only club to declare their interest in Kezman by making discreet enquiries for him.

Lisbon see Kezman as the man to help them challenge Porto's dominance in Portugal, but is thought that the skilful forward would not be interested in a move to Portugal preferring to move to one of the bigger leagues in Europe.

Blues in Kezman enquiry
Friday, 19 March 2004

by Graeme Bailey & Gerrit van Leeuwen
EXCLUSIVE
Birmingham City are believed to have made an enquiry for PSV Eindhoven star Mateja Kezman and his agent has confirmed that he would respect any team that made a bid for him.
Blues have emerged as one of the most ambitious teams in England and have followed this up with big-name signings such at Christophe Dugarry and David Dunn.

Dugarry's move to St Andrews did not work out and he returned to France earlier this month, but manager Steve Bruce is now on the look out for top-class players to replace him.

Chelsea's Mikael Forssell has enjoyed a wonderful season on loan at Birmingham, but his good form for Bruce's side mean he is likely to be back at Stamford Bridge next season - another reason for a new top-draw forward.

Birmingham are currently embroiled in the fight for a UEFA Champions League place and have safely established themselves in The Premiership over the last18 months - and now they are ready to push on to the next level.

Kezman has previously been the target for the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and Juventus - but nothing has materialised for the Serbian, who has expressed his desire to quit The Philips Stadion.

Skysports.com has spoken with the 24-year-old's agent Chiel Dekker and he admitted that his client would consider a move Birmingham - if they made a bid.

"No official contact has come to us from Birmingham, but Mateja would respect any club that made an approach for him," said Dekker.

"He has explained his ambitions and they are to move abroad. He wants to move and PSV know this.

"I have talked with Mateja and we think the best leagues for him to play in are England and Spain.

"He wants to move to a good side having played Champions League football for many years with PSV - but he would move to any club with a good standard."

Kezman is now in his fourth season with PSV - where he is worshipped by fans, thanks to his wonderful scoring record which, to date, has seem him grab 91 league goals in just 113 games for the club.

PSV paid £7 million for Kezman in July 2000 when he moved from Partizan Belgrade, but with just 14 months left on his contract the Dutch club realise the last chance for a big sale is this summer.

It is understood that Birmingham are the first club this year to make a move for Kezman - who would likely cost near if not over £10 million.

PSV themselves have told skysports.com that they have not had talks with Birmingham, but knew of interest from England.

"Through some agents we have heard news about interest for Kezman," said club spokesman Pedro Salazar Hewitt.

"It has not come from the clubs, but we know that clubs in England are interested."

Na, Van Bommel Spurs, Kezman Birmingham... Bár mindegy, inkább fizessenek értük, minthogy jövőre ingyér lépjenek le.

Van Bommel reiterates Spurs desire
Thursday, 18 March 2004

by Graeme Bailey
Dutch star Mark van Bommel has confirmed that he would consider a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Van Bommel was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal when he broke into the Dutch international squad, but any potential interest from Higbury was never followed up.

The 26-year-old was then eyed by Spurs last summer and he revealed that he would move to White Hart Lane.

Six months on, van Bommel has now again stated his interest in a move to North London.

"It's a fine club with a beautiful stadium and a good squad," he told De Telegraaf.

"I have played at White Hart Lane with the Dutch national team and with PSV."

Van Bommel's quotes come after Spurs were linked with a renewed bid for him.

A number of trips to Holland by Spurs' current caretaker boss David Pleat - who will continue in his director of football role once a new manager is installed in the summer - has ignited speculation in the local Dutch media and now they claim a summer move is on the cards.

Tottenham are busy looking at targets for next season and Pleat's trips have seen him take in a number of Eredivisie games.

A defensive midfielder is thought to be very high on Spurs' wanted list and van Bommel would fit the bill perfectly, and with just one year left on his current deal at PSV - he may not be as expensive as he was.

Spurs are also continuing on the trail of Feyenoord's highly rated winger Robin van Persie.

Pleat was impressed by him earlier this year and has again travelled to watch him play, and a summer bid for him looks increasingly likely.

Like van Bommel, van Persie has just over a year left on his current deal.

Mondjuk nem értem miért akar a senki Tottenhamhoz igazolni, mikor itt játszhat a BL-ben meg minden.
