Convey reveals Feyenoord interest By Peter ORourke - Created on 18 Nov 2005
Reading winger Bobby Convey has admitted he is flattered by interest from Feyenoord.
The Dutch giants have been tracking Convey and Reading team-mate James Harper after watching both players in action this term.
Convey has enjoyed a fine season to date, helping Reading into second spot in The Championship.
The American international, who has just over a year to run on his current Reading deal, is aware of the interest from Feyenoord.
"I hear that teams watch me play and they (Feyenoord) have been watching me for quite a long time," Convey told The Chronicle.
"But I have one-and-a-half years left here at Reading and all I want is to deal with that part of my life first and foremost.
"Where I'll be at the end of it is immaterial right now. I've been linked with teams many times before so it's nothing new.
"It's really not that big a deal. I've spoken to people from Feyenoord before. They come to games and it's great they're watching Harps (James Harper) too.
"But that's all there is to it and the best way to deal with that sort of thing is to play well for the team and the rest will look after itself."
Kuyt pleased to see Wenger By Gerrit van Leeuwen - Created on 7 Nov 2005
Dirk Kuyt is pleased to see Arsene Wenger checking on his progress.
The Arsenal manager travelled to Holland on Sunday with scout Gilles Grimandi to watch Feyenoord's 0-0 draw with Vitesse Arnhem.
Kuyt has now spoken about Wenger and Arsenal's potential interest - despite the fact it is far from certain that he was the prime reason for the Gunners boss' presence.
"I will not be put off, however I find it very special that a top coach such as Wenger takes the effort to come from England and over here," said Kuyt told Algemeen Dagblad.
Dutch reports insist that Kuyt, who also interests Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton, is one of two strikers that Wenger is considering.
"Mark Wotte [technical director at Feyenoord] had said before the match some very important people would take a look at me.
"I don't know specifically if it was Wenger. I just have wait and see.
"Arsenal is of course a fantastic club to be linked with, however I am not a type of player who would get confused."
English sources have suggested that Wenger's real target at De Kuip was Egyptian midfielder Hossam Ghaly.
Only last month the 23-year-old revealed that Arsenal were the club of his dreams and he would love the chance to move to North London.

New signing John Owoeri will be added to the first-team squad when he gets his papers and arrives in Rotterdam. Out in Nanjing, Erwin Koeman confirmed that he was happy with the coming of the Nigerian striker. ‘This lad is arriving for relatively little money and has a year to show what he can do. If he turns out to be a gain Feyenoord has an option to keep him at the club for a longer time.’
‘His arrival will not be at the expense of any other transfer opportunities,’ continued Koeman. ‘We can’t go wrong with this,’ said the coach in Nanjing.
15-7-2005 | 8:50 FEYENOORD REACH AGREEMENT WITH JOHN OWOERI
Feyenoord and John Owoeri agreed terms Thursday on a one-year contract with the possibility of an extension. The lightning-fast Nigerian striker arrived in Rotterdam at the start of the week for a trial after being one of the main attractions at the recent World Under 20 Championships. Owoeri will join the squad as soon as all his papers are in order.
Glenn Loovens has joined Cardiff City on loan with immediate effect. The Welsh club have taken on the Rotterdammer for one season. It’s a dream come true for Loovens, who is excited about playing in the UK. ‘The times I’ve played there have made an impression on me. So I’m glad about this. I’d rather have stayed at Feyenoord, but I want to play and with Saidi, Gibbs, Bahia and Greene as competition that would be tough.’
Loovens was charmed by the city and the club on his visit to Cardiff. ‘They are busy building a new stadium and I’ve seen that the potential is there to take a step forward. They now play in the Championship, which is a division below the Premiership. I hope to have a share in the sporting evolution. And the city appealed to me too, especially the harbour was brilliant. The perception of football in the UK appeals enormously to me and I’m happy with the move.’
The loan deal is the third for Loovens, who has lodged at Excelsior in the past and last season was at De Graafschap, where the young defender was unable to turn things around when he arrived after the winter break as the club were ultimately relegated from the Eredivisie. Loovens has played 27 competitive matches for Feyenoord. The defender has a contract until mid-2007.
Feyenoord and Anderlecht have reached a principle agreement on the transfer of Bart Goor to the club from Brussels. ?With the agreement of coach Erwin Koeman we have been able to resolve the situation, confirmed technical director Mark Wotte. The Belgians will pay Feyenoord a cut-price fee for the 32-year old signature as part of a deal that sees youth international Timothy Derijck move the other way.
Bart Goor arrived at De Kuip in the summer of 2004 from German Bundesliga club Hertha BSC and soon became a fans favourite in Rotterdam. Recent interest from Anderlecht flattered Goor however and he expressed the wish to ship out of Feyenoord. After some negotiations a deal has now been struck. With this solution we can end the Bart Goor story, explained Mark Wotte. The situation with promising Belgian youth international Timothy is also solved.
Sherif Ekramy flew into Schiphol airport Thursday morning after being awarded a work permit earlier in the week. The Egyptian keeper was fatigued but thrilled to arrive in Holland. He was also thrilled to hear that Thursday training had been cancelled. ‘Because the journey was tiring and the farewell to my family was emotional. That makes it difficult to train. But I’m happy that the adventure at Feyenoord is about to begin, because I’m really up for it.’
The 22-year-old goes straight into the first-team squad after the departure of Gabor Babos to NEC on loan.
Adams joins Feyenoord coaching staff Written by Chris Nixon
ROTTERDAM, Jul 8 (SW) - Dutch club Feyenoord have confirmed that Arsenal legend Tony Adams will join its coaching staff for the upcoming 05/06 season.
38-year-old Adams is keen to become involved in a ‘European’ football system following a one-year managerial spell at Wycombe Wanderers from November 2003 to November 2004.
Adams confirmed he had scoured the continent for an opportunity to further his experience and knowledge.
“I tested myself for some months in Italy, France and Belgium. The conversations I had with Feyenoord's management gave me the most welcome feelings,” said Adams in the Rotterdam Dagblad newspaper.
Adams will be involved with the club’s under-21 squad and said he was looking forward to passing on some of his knowledge to the youngsters, as well as pick up a few tips along the way.
“I believe that I can teach players a lot with my experience but I also hope to pick up a feel of the Dutch youth programme and the structure of Feyenoord.”
Feyenoord striker Kuyt given extra rest 04 Jul 2005
Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuijt has been given extra rest from training due to his exploits for Holland in June's World Cup qualifiers. Manager Erwin Koeman has given his main striker a reduced training schedule this week, with Kuijt sitting out training on Tuesday and Thursday having already missed the squad's return to training on Saturday. However, the Liverpool target will feature in Feyenoord's first friendly game against amateur side Alphen aan den Rijn on Monday.
