Last season De Graafschap left The ArenA with a 2-0 defeat. And this season also didn't bring any points. The team from de Achterhoek had to go home with 1 goal scored but 4 against. The match was played for about 33.000 fans on a pitch that resembled a sandbox more than a grassfield. The 21st field is almost transfered to Holland.
From the first whistle of referee van Hulten on Ajax was on the attack and it was the team that dictated the play. The attacking resulted in a swift goal. In the 6th minute Tomás Gálŕsek passed the ball on Wamberto who didn't hesitate and shot the ball behind keeper Postma. And although Ajax stayed the best team, ven without playing good, it was De Graafschap that equalized in the 31st minute. Eric Viscaal, the best De Graafschap player, shot from 18 meters and Fred Grim had no chance on that shot, 1-1.
At the teabreak coach Adriaanse substituted Bergdolmo for Cedric van der Gun. Adriaanse kind of had it with the Nore, "Bergdolmo fails already a couple of matches and that's why I took him off". With Van der Gun came "a bit more aggression in the Ajax-play". And two goals! But Cedric's goals came after Chivu coldblooded scored out of a penalty, 2-1 in the 58th minute. Ajax got the penalty after Vreman took down Machlas in the penalty-box.
In the 64th minute Rafaël van der Vaart, who played a cool match, passed the ball upon Cedric van der Gun, he took the ball in a beautiful move towards the goal and scored even beautiful, 3-1. Seventeen minutes later Van der Gun also scored Ajax' last goal by kicking the ball real hard behind the substitute keeper Besselink, 4-1.
Álthough Ajax won 4-1 Co Adriaanse was not satisfied. "we made only four goals and that should have been way higher. De Graafschap got one chance and scored, our chances were numerous but we didn't make more than four goals." Adriaanse was right here because De Graafschap also played from the 51st minute on with ten instead of eleven players. Berck Beelenkamp received the red card after a brutal faul on Van der Gun.
Cristian Chivu left the match injured. According to Adriaanse it seems that Chivu has an injured hamstring and the coach thinks it's out of the question that Chivu can play for Romania this Wednesday. At the end a nice note: Chivu is Ajax' number one penalty-taker with Machlas behind him. If Ajax gets two penalty's to take Chivu takes the first and Machlas the second one. If Chivu is out of the match Nikos Machlas is the number one."

At last the spell has been broken. Ajax has finally gained an away victory - its first since November 28th, 1999, when AZ fell victim to the team from Amsterdam in Alkmaar. Today's win, in Tilburg against Willem II, was by a score of 0-1, and came as the result of a beautiful goal by Wamberto. The small Brazilian had a couple of more good scoring chances but, unfortunately, was unable to add to his tally. Over the course of almost the entire match, Ajax was the less bad team and, so, was more entitled to the three points. Willem II just didn't show enough desire, playing a very conservative game.
Ajax' starting lineup could be called surprising, to say the least. Co Adriaanse has had to contend with serious defensive problems. The latest injured defender - in a long line of injured players - is Cristian Chivu. He got injured during last Friday's training session. Ferdi Vierklau is also injured, but Adriaanse is so satisfied with his attack and midfield, that he doesn't want to take players away from there in order to stenghten the defense. Which explains why the 14,700 fans who came out for the game in the Willem II stadium saw Tom Sier and Tim de Cler standing on the field for the opening kickoff.
Let's not forget that these were two of the players who, not so long ago, Adriaanse felt he had no room for on the team. It must also be be said, that Tom Sier did a good job and it would seem that he might have been turned down to soon. Tim de Cler, on the other hand, will soon move to Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen, the affiliated sister team of Ajax in Belgium, and hopefully he will learn to become a better defender there - because he never impressed us before and he did nothing tonight to make us change our mind.
Ajax took the lead in the 11th minute, but it didn't come all that willingly. Nikos Machlas shot at Willem II's keeper, de Vlieger, but it was quite a powerless shot. Luckily for the striker his mate, Wamberto, was nearby to score the oh so important goal out of a difficult corner, for the 0-1. Just like the 10 minutes before the goal, the rest of the match was hardly worth watching - a really weak match with hardly any fight in it.
Fred Grim saved Ajax from a goal against a couple of times. The save in the 88th minute when he smashed a great shot from Salou out of the upper right corner was especially important - he saved the team's three points right there - and, thus, put an end to a dramatic series of lost away points.
Notes: Ajax is now number 5 in Holland, with a huge gap between themselves and leaders Feyenoord and Vitesse. This Thursday Lausanne Sports comes to Amsterdam for the second match in round two of the UEFA Cup. Adriaanse has a few problems facing him for that one, too: a sickbay full of injured players, Wamberto suspended, Sier not on the UEFA list of eligible players, and "Chivu is only possible for the game, the rest are out of the question."

Jelenleg 7 pont valaszt le minket az ellovas Vitesse-tol, de Koemanek 1 meccsel kevesebbet jatszottak, igy vesztett pont tekinteteben 10 pont az elonyuk.
A 2. Feyenoord 4 ponttal van elottunk, de ok 3-mal(!) kevesebbet jatszottak, igy vesztett pontokat nezve veluk szemben nagyobb a hatrany, 13 pont.
A lenyeg: a 13 is ledolgozhato, de meg nem szereztek meg azokat a pontokat a rotterdamiak!

Egy idegenbeli gyozelemmel a tobbi eredmeny kedvezo alakulasaval maris ozelebb lopakodhatnank az 1.helyhez! GYERUNK!!!
A svajci meccs utan nem rossz, bar gyozni kellett volna. Hiaba vezettunk, a vegefele 11-est kapott a Psv. Kar erte, de pozitiv, hogy az eddig 100 szazalekos Feyenoord is ixelt (Dombi Tibi!), igy nem maradtunk le, toluk veszitett pontokat tekintve meg jobban.

Ajax is getting hot
It looks like the players of Ajax are getting understand each other. It looks like of the young team of Adriaanse knows now how the system works. The result was a 4-2 victory for Ajax with Rafael van der Vaart en Cristian Chivu as the two best man on the pitch.
Those players symbolize the new Ajax. They are just 17 and 19 years old but they are still the pivots of Ajax. The Romanian rules in the defence and wins of every striker. Van der Vaart is the new leader on the midfield and he is now permanent a starter in the line up.
Ajax missed Richard Witschge and Jesper Gronkjaer because of injuries but those important first team players were take care of very good. Those injuries were not a problem also because the system don’t change. Everybody knows what to do on his position. The 3-4-3 system is also played when there is ill-luck in previous matches.
Ajax started like a whirlwind, enthusiasticly supported by the 35000 man in the Arena. Ajax created in the first 3 minutes 3 big chanches. Although this chanches weren’t goals, was the sound of the game knowed: a sound with a lot of stake.
Roda were waiting on the offensives of Ajax in the first half. But Roda had also good chanches in the first period of the first half. From the always dangerous corners of Roda wasn’t scored by Nygaard and also Tchoutang saw his shot by way of Grim spotted on the bar.
But it was Ajax that opened the score. It was a good attack who by way of Machlas and Van der Gun landed by Galasek. He could shoot the ball simply in the goal. The goalkeeper Roorda had no possibility to stopped the ball. The resistance of Roda after 15 minutes was broken.
Ajax was keeping pressure on the Roda. The second goal was a question of time. It was just after a half hour. Ajax had to have a penalty for it to increase the score. Machlas couldn’t shoot because Vrede tackled him.
The penalty given was scored by Chivu. Ajax was leading comfortable.
Although the second half was not so good as the first, the spectators could see 4 goals. Roda JC was playing affraid and they didn’t have an agreement with the team of a Roda who defense good and organised.
Ajax was ruling in the Arena. There was no panic and unrest. When it was difficult in the defense of Ajax than were the defenders of Ajax shoot the ball just hard away. It was not beautifal but it was effective.
Ajax was seeking to new spirtit and found that in the change of Van der Gun – Ikedia. The little but very fast Nigerian gave Ajax speed, dare and danger.
After 20 minutes, and 1 minute after the fall in of Ikedia, Ajax scored again. Van der Vaart proved his scoring power and crown his good match.
In a hard duel with the Van der Luer, who is the age of Van der Vaart two times, he saw that Roorda was to far of his goal. With an excelent lob he beat Roorda: 3-0
Roda was powerlessness. The next score of then was an incident and not based on the good play of them. Nobody expecting the 3-1. On a pass of Van Dessel was the low header of Van der Luer surprising for Grim. He was in the wrong corner of his goal.
Machlas played a good match and was pressing the defence of Roda constantly. No goal for the Greek but with his contribution by the first 2 goals could Machlas be a happy man.
Hosé replaced him and he scored. It was Ikedia with an excelent rush on the rightwing. He had no problems with 3 Roda players but he shoot the bal on the bar. Lucky the ball was back on the head of Hosé and so he scored. 4-1. There were a lot of happy faces in the Arena.
A little bit stupid is for the rest the 4-2. Tchoutang scored from a scrimmage. An ugly goal. Maybe it was the only blame of the evening. It was an evening who has won a lot of selfconfidence for the team of Ajax. Ajax is getting hot and holds his unbeaten home record this season. A good prospect for the match against Lausanne Sports, thursday and the not less important match sunday against PSV.
