a celticcel való jó kapcsolatnak más okai is vannak. számos testimonial és jótékonysági meccset játszott a két csapat egymással. a két klub és a két szurkolótábor valamiért magyon egymásratalált. a liverpool soha nem fogja elfelejteni, ahogy a celtic fogadta őket pár héttel a hillsboroughi katasztrófa után például.
véleményem szerint mind az evertonian mind a liverpudlian érzelműek hasonlóan állnak a korona és a kormány kérdéshez. persze nem lehet általánosítani, mindkét klub szurkolói között lehetnek éppenúgy loyalisták is, de a scouserek többsége igenis elhatárolódik angliától, mint nemzettől.
amúgy fontos megjegyezni, hogy a liverpool és az everton között nincs igazán ideológiai, vagy vallási választóvonal, sok család is megosztott a két klub között.
Hát brit zászlók nincsenek, az már biztos. Angol azért akad hébe-hóba...
(Egyébként félre ne értse valaki a dinamo bukarest hasonlatomat, a Liverpool az egyetlen angol csapat amelyikért szorítani tudok nemzetközi szinten is.)
nem az, sőt az lenne furcsa, ha angol vagy brit zászlókat látnál liverpoolban.
liverpool eléggé elhatárolja magát a koronától és a kormánytól, ez pedig a thatcheri években csak felerősödött. nézz utána a thatcheri gazdaságpolitika hatásainak és megérted :-)
Arról tudsz valamit, hogy a liverpooli drukkerek miért lobogtatanak sűrűn ír zászlókat, sálakat? Tudom hogy van ír játékos a csapatukban, de amikor épp nem volt akkor is ez ment, szóval másról lehet szó.... De miről???

Újra kihallgatják Steve Finnant, a Bajnokok Ligája-győztes FC Liverpool labdarúgóját, mivel még januárban autójával elgázolt egy idős férfit, aki a baleset után öt héttel elhunyt. A 29 éves ír hátvédet április 11-ig nem kérdezték ki az ügyben, majd váratlanul rövid idő alatt rács mögé került, de később óvadék ellenében kiengedték. Legközelebb június 29-én kell bemennie a rendőrségre, ahol újabb kérdéseket tesznek fel neki. A futballista január 27-én ütötte el terepjárójával a 81 éves Harry Nelsont, aki aztán március elején halt bele súlyos fejsérülésébe.

Ireland's manager happy with a win over the Faroe Islands
Ireland’s Brian Kerr admitted that he would have happily settled for a 2-0 over the Faroe Islands had he been offered that before the World Cup tie in Torshaven.
Kerr smiled ruefully after the final whistle and admitted that it had not been a match of “pretty football”. The result and the three points that helped Ireland back to the top of their qualifying group meant it was a very worthwhile out from Ireland’s point of view.
Kerr said the match had panned out exactly as he expected - “The game was scrappy but France and Switzerland were here before us, eventually won after tough games and I knew it would be a battle and a scrap and that’s what it was.”
He said: “We won 2-0 and we’d have settled for that before the game.
“We had a goal disallowed in the first half which I thought was a very fine call and the lads missed two or three other good chances.
“We had crosses being whipped in (in that period), Stephen Elliott missed one that came back off the bar and I think in the second half we had ten or eleven decent chances also.
“We tried to attack, we knew they would chase and harry and try to disrupt our rhythm which is what they did but I thought we were competent and we stayed at it.
“I knew before the match the type of game it was going to be, it wasn’t going to be a pretty game … there’s been no pretty games here for years and years and years.
Kerr was pleased with the performance of young centre-forward Stephen Elliott of Sunderland in his competitive debut for Ireland.
He said: “Stephen Elliott worked very hard right across the line. He should have scored in the first half but he did well to get the penalty kick, he showed his enthusiasm.
“He’s still got a lot to learn for this level but it was good for him to get a start in a competitive match.”
Ireland have a break now until September when they will resume their attempts to qualify for next year’s finals in Germany by playing France in Dublin on September 7.
They follow that with a match away to Cyprus on October 8 and finish their tournament by playing Switzerland in Dublin on October 12.
Meantime Ireland will play a friendly match in preparation for those tests against Italy in Dublin on August 17.
Kerr said: “We’ve still got nine points to play for and if we get the nine we’ll win it.
“We’re not in a position where we can think it’s going to be easy, it’s not going to be easy and I knew at the start of the group it was going to be that way.
“I think most of the players who were realistic understood that generally Ireland go to the very last game trying to make it and if you look across the other groups you will see that many of them will also go to the very last game.
“Our aim was to get into the Summer and be in a position where the last three matches matter and they obviously do.
“We’re probably under-dogs now if we’re going to make it but we’ve got two home games left.”
