ULSAN, South Korea, May 30 (AFP)- Brazil's long-awaited World Cup opener against Group C rivals Turkey was on Thursday beset by mutual accusations of dirty tricks.
Accusations of spying between the two camps have been ciculating for the past two days, with Turkey on Thursday complaining that Brazil had sent Gilson Nunez, a former coach of Costa Rica, to watch them training.
Nunez tried to pass himself off as a journalist to an enquiring Turkish team official however he is believed to be a member of Brazil's delegation.
"It's normal behaviour for Brazil to send someone to spy on us because everyone is scared of our team," a Turkish team official said.
The previous day Brazil had complained of a Turkish journalist who watched their training session equipped with a video camera.

Gleeful Brazilian fans were ecstatic on Friday after watching their 1998 World Cup final conquerors France slump 1-0 to Senegal in this year's opening match in Seoul.
Fans of the "selecao" have been traumatised ever since their 3-0 thrashing by the French at the Stade de France in Paris but this time they were gloating over the sweet taste of, albeit proxy, revenge as the Senegalese debutants, nicknamed the Teranga Lions, mauled the world champions.
"The Senegalese humiliate the French" was how the Folha de Sao Paulo daily trumpeted the shock result, while calling on its readers to support not just African lions but "tigers, zebras, gnus ... " and any other animal it could think of.
And it saluted the Senegalese for "doing what Brazil didn't do in 1998 - humiliate the French!"
One commentator wrote: "I know it would be elegant to say that the French played better and deserved to win (in 1998) but when I think back to that final the only word which comes to mind is - uuugh!"
The writer admitted that he liked French culture from cartoon cult hero Asterix, to wine and actress Catherine Deneuve and author Rabelais.
But when it comes to football the French are clearly not to Brazilian taste.

Hát igen, a széleken erős Brazília, meg úgy összességében is nagyon jók a nevek, már csak az a kérdés, hogy a nevek teljesítményt is takarnak-e, vagy mindenki annyit tud csak kihozni magából, amennyit az elmúlt hónapban tudott. Éppen ezért Brazília a vébé nagy kérdőjele. Lehet akár vilábbajnok is, de arra is legalább akkora az esély, hogy csak a negyeddöntőig jut. Én tényleg nem mernék tippelni a brazilok szereplésére.

Egyébként óriási, hogy három év után végre olvasható egy brazil kezdőtizenegy, amelyről leolvasható, hogy mit is akar játszani. Van benne jobbhátvéd is, de csak egy, balhátvéd is, de csak egy, vannak védekező és támadó középpályások is, és csatár is, de nem öt, hanem csak egy (meg két fél). Úgy látszik Scolari megtalálta a csapatot, most már Rivaldóékon múlik, hogy mit tudnak kihozni magukból. Ha jól megy nekik, akkor ez előttt a csapat előtt nincs lehetetlen feladat.
A legutóbbi tréningen egy edzőmeccs keretén belűl 11-est rúgott Ronaldinho.Kihagyta.Scolari ezután Ronaldóra mutatott, hogy ismételje meg.Kihagyta.Rivaldo következett,majd Juninho.Kihagyták.Akárcsak Edmilson,Kléberson,Denilson és még ketten.Egymás után nyolcszor!

ULSAN, May 28 (Zoomsoccer) - Despite a 4-0 victory on Saturday, Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari says he is going back to the drawing board with his line-up for the opening game against Turkey.
Last week, Scolari said that he hoped the team he picked to play Malaysia would be the one he puts out in Ulsan on 3 June. He surprisingly opted for Kleberson ahead of Vampeta, but the rest of the line-up was as many pundits predicted.
However, after the lacklustre display, Scolari admitted that Kleberson was not the only player now vulnerable to a change of heart. "I didn't say that was the team - it was a draft. I have to watch the players' reactions and include those who are in best condition," Scolari said.
Scolari said that he was now considering Anderson Polga, who came for Edmilson and stiffened up the defence. Gilberto Silva and Vampeta now appear to be in with a chance of replacing Kleberson.
Scolari also admits that he is facing a tactical dilemma after switching his preferred 3-5-2 formation to 4-4-2 to good effect in the second half.
