It must be a difficult time to be a QPR fan. In the third division of the league (currently trading as Nationwide League Division Two) for the first season since All You Need Is Love was in the hit parade, and driven into administration at the end of last season by crippling financial problems. Then there was the alarming suggestion that one way out of the muddle was to merge with Wimbledon (possibly to form a new superclub called Quimbledon), and now it has emerged that one of the parties interested in buying a stake in the club is the US-based religious cult the Moonies.
For a while there was some confusion, as Rangers devotees hoped against hope that a bid had come in from Watford striker Tommy Mooney and his unexpectedly wealthy family, but no. It was indeed the apostles of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon who were sounding out the administrators in charge of getting the Hoops back on their feet.
Its difficult at first sight to see what might attract the Moonies to QPR. But then both are known for making promising youngsters disappear - the Moonies to aggressively evangelical brainwashing centres in America, and QPR most recently to Portsmouth. And perhaps the Moonies interest could explain why Rangers home gates have dwindled so dramatically. Maybe the lost fans will one day return, smiling ecstatically and denouncing all Communists as the spawn of Satan.
Who knows, maybe the Moonies are merely dipping their clean-brained toes in the water of English football, and are ultimately planning to move in at the biggest club in the land, which they will rename Manchester Unificated. They will, however, face strong opposition from the Osmond-faced Mormons, who are rumoured to have a plan to use the Old Trafford clubs high profile to spread their message that men can have as many wives as they can handle, insisting that David Beckham marries the rest of the Spice Girls before the deal can go through.

Nagyon nyomasztó a hazai pálya manapság, pedig 24350 néző még az angol második vonalban sem kismiska. Szombaton idegenben az utolsó Rotherham ellen ennél könnyebb győzelem valószínűsíthető. Kár, hogy Kenny Miller megsérült, mert a támadások 60-70%-ában benne szokott lenni. Valószínűleg Proudlock vagy Roussel lesz a kezdő.

Remélem, csak májusig, de ezt a topikot is felveszem a "Kedvencek"-be. A Wolverhampton Wanderers nagyszerűen kezdte a szezont (az egyetlen veretlen a Division One-ban), és valahányszor kinyitom az egyébként nagyszerű honlapjukat (www.wolves.co.uk), máris új erősítési terveket, vagy konkrét új igazolásokat látok. Ma este a Nottingham-et fogadják a Molineux Stadium-ban, ahol egyébként eddig lényegesen gyengébben szerepeltek, mint idegenben. Az új igazolásokkal: Blake-kel és Rae-vel azonban remélem, hogy a Wolves hazai szereplése is erőteljesebb lesz.
Amúgy a Wolves-zal kapcsolatban érdekesség, hogy a honlapon a történelmük meghatározó eseményei között szerepeltetik, hogy 1954-ben egy barátságos mérkőzésen 3-2-re verték a Honvédot. Egyébként a Wolves fénykora is az '50-es évekre esett, mindhárom bajnoki címüket ekkor szerezték.
Sajnos én is ebben a helyzetben vagyok. Egyátalán lehet úgy irni nekik, hogy nincs is nálam sport1?
Akkor mi alapján reklamálok? Pedig tényleg nagyon jó lenne dömpingben angol focit látni a TV-ben.

Albion striker Bobby Zamora has collected yet another award! This time he's been voted the PFA Player of the Year for Division Three.
Zamora was part of the PFA Third Division team - along with his team-mate Danny Cullip. That selection was based on votes from his fellow pros. Now he's won the PFA Third Division Player of the Year - as voted for by the fans!
The 31-goal striker beat Robert Earnshaw of Cardiff into second place, while Paul Simpson of Blackpool finished third, and Zamora told the PFA's website:
"I can hardly believe all the stuff which has happened to me this season. With Brighton clinching the Third Division title... I couldn't be happier. It has been a fantastic season and I would just like to thank the fans that voted for me for taking the time and trouble to do so. It means a lot and I am proud to receive this award."
In addition to the double regocnition from the PFA, Zamora has picked up the Player of the Season Award, and the Seagulls Club and Internet versions, and in March He won the Nationwide Player of the Month.

Before this season, Albion had only twice won the championship of a division of the Football League in the 81 years since they joined the competition in 1920.
This season's success comes 36 year after the previous occasion when, under the leadership of manager Archie Macaulay, they won the Fourth Division (now Division Three) title by one point from Millwall. The championship was secured with a 3-1 home win against Darlington in front of 31,423 fans at the Goldstone Ground. Bobby Smith, one of the most famous players ever to turn out for the club, was the charismatic talisman who inspired the team and the crowd. In fact the average attendance at the Goldstone, in the bottom division, was an amazing 17,975.
Albion's first title triumph came in 1958 when they won the Third Division (South) with a 6-0 win in the last game at home to Watford; the gate was 31,038. Adrian Thorne, a local 20-year-old in only his seventh league game, scored five, including a hat-trick in the first nine minutes! Billy Lane was the manager, and Albion secured the one promotion place available.

A Plymouth egyenlőre 20000 körülit szeretne, amit a sikerektől függően megfelelő sebbeséggel 30000 kürölire növel majd. A képet a Plymouth hivatalos weboldalán a stadionleírástól szedtem, ezek szerint egyértelműen ugyanazt a makettot adják, mint a Southampton-iak. Az ülőkék rendben, zöldnek is kell majd lenniük!
Barr Construction, based in Scotland, have been confirmed as winners of the tender and be commisioned to transform Home Park, the estimated cost is around £10 million. Barr Construction are currently building the new 32,000 all-seater stadium for Premiership club Southampton.

Ugyanazzal a skót céggel csináltatják a stadiont. nagyjából ugyanúgy fog kinézni. Nem tudom a Southampton mekkora stadiont építet, de a Plymouth egy hosszabb távlatú terveben gondolkodva 30000 felettit szeretne. Tudom, hogy épül a Southampton új stadionja, írták is a www.pafc.co.uk-n, hogy mi is a közös az egészben.
