AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani admitted on Monday that he is trying to hijack Chelsea midfielder Sam Dalla Bona's Ł6 million transfer to Internazionale. "We are looking at him. He is a really interesting player," said the Rossoneri boss.
Galliani explained that part of Dalla Bona's attraction lay in his understanding with another highly-rated youngster at Milan, Massimo Donati, who was bought for Ł10 million last summer before immediately going back to Atalanta on loan.
"We remember how well Dalla Bona and Donati played together in the Atalanta youth team," he said. "But we can only bring him in if we sell some players because our squad is too big now."
Inter are believed to have bid Ł6 million for Dalla Bona after coach Hector Cuper revealed he wanted the 20-year-old. "Dalla Bona is a player with the talent to become a major player for the future," he said.
The Under-21 star is training with Chelsea in Italy at present and San Siro officials went to meet Blues boss Claudio Ranieri with their offer. Dalla Bona has rejected an extension to his current contract at Stamford Bridge, which still has two years to run.
Cuper is looking to replace midfielder Andrea Pirlo, who was sold to Milan recently, and confirmed: "We've been contacted by his representatives and, acting on their information, we have decided to try to bring the player to Inter."
The Nerazzurri began chasing Dalla Bona in March, but technical director Gabriele Oriali admitted at the time: "As long as Ranieri remains at Chelsea, Dalla Bona isn't going anywhere. Ranieri doesn't want to do without him."
Meanwhile, the AC Milan squad has assembled at the Hotel Gallia with over 3,000 fans to celebrate the arrivals of Filippo Inzaghi and Manuel Rui Costa.
The Portugal midfielder drew huge cheers when he was presented to the crowd on the hotel balcony.
ŇWe see what great enthusiasm exists around us," said skipper Paolo Maldini. "We now have a really strong team that will give great satisfaction to our fans."
One banner in the crowd read: "With this team and the Emperor, we will win the Scudetto." The Emperor is the nickname given in Italy to Milan's new coach Fatih Terim, who takes over following a stormy spell with Fiorentina last season.
Ezek szerint Dalla Bonat a Milan is megszeretné szerezni csakúgy mint az Inter.Lessz itt még csata:-)
