Augusztus 16-án játszik Magyarországon a V10
A Magyar Nagydíj előtt, augusztus 16-án este a budapesti Felvonulási téren nyilvános koncertet ad Eddie Jordan rock-zenekara, a V10. A népszerű Forma-1-es csapatvezető londoni és monacói fellépése után a Hungaroring Rt. felkérését elfogadva Magyarországon is bemutatkozik a nagyközönség előtt.
A klasszikus rockzenét játszó V10 mellett hazai sztárok: a TNT, Sub Bass Monster és a Chrystal is fellép a rendezvényen, amelyen várhatóan több Forma-1-es versenyző megjelenik majd. A közismerten nagy zenerajongó hírében álló Jordan-en kívül a sportágnak sok olyan egyénisége van, akit muzikális vénával is megáldott a sors: így pl. az 1996-os világbajnok, és mellesleg remekül gitározó Damon Hill. A Hungaroring Rt. elnök-vezérigazgatója, Palik László elárulta: reményeik szerint sikerül elcsábítaniuk a koncertre Roger Taylort, a legendás Queen együttes dobosát is.
A fellépések közötti szünetben kerítenek sort annak a nyolc paddock belépőnek a kiosztására is, amelyekre július 19. és augusztus 14. között az RTL Klub honlapján lehet licitálni. A Bernie Ecclestone által felajánlott exkluzív jegyek árveréséből befolyt összeget jótékony célra, a Gyermek-, Ifjúsági és Sportminisztérium drogellenes programjaira fordítják.
A szervezők reményei szerint "a fergetegesnek ígérkező koncert és a nemes célú árverés kulturális és karitatív téren egyaránt hagyományteremtőnek bizonyul" majd. Az ingyenes rendezvényre mindenkit szeretettel várnak.

Formula One technology has reached another level with the announcement by BMW that next year it will introduce a Heads Up Display (HUD) system for use inside BMW-Williams driver Ralf Schumacher’s helmet.
The Silicon Valley-based BMW Technology Office has been developing the system in association with German helmet supplier Schuberth and a specialist electronics firm. The system will provide the driver with streaming information and messages from his crew via a 6x8-millimetre LCD screen. The design is such that Schumacher will be able to read the screen information while keeping his eye on his driving.
‘With this device, BMW has taken a further important step forward on the safety front,’ Schumacher said.

HUD was mooted for introduction in the early nineties but there were complications over comfort and safety and the idea was scrapped until BMW picked it up again several years ago.
BMW’s take on the concept is groundbreaking because the system will establish a new and important line of communication between the driver and his team in an age of hit and miss radio communications. A unit in the helmet stores messages and information in a data set that can be controlled from the pit computers and displayed to the driver on the screen about a range of topics from car systems to incidents on the other side of the track.
As part of the HUD system, it incorporates a high-resolution true colour display based on the Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display technology, like a computer notebook. The main advantage of such a display is its lens element, known as Free Form Prism (FFP), which enables the driver to see a perfect picture at all times.
Schumacher has tried the system successfully and after further refinement tests later in the year will race with it for the first time in Melbourne 2003.
As expected, Briton Anthony Davidson will replace Alex Yoong as Mark Webber’s Minardi team-mate at the Hungarian and Belgian Grands Prix.
Davidson, a contracted British American Racing test driver, had a seat fitting at Faenza on Monday and will drive in his first Formula One race this Sunday. During Davidson’s two-race stint, the team has said Yoong will participate in an extensive test programme so he can get his confidence back and be ready to return for the final three rounds of the season, Italy, USA, and Japan.
Davidson comes to the job having had a notable junior career with impressive performances in Kart and Junior formula machines. He has also completed over 12,000 kilometres in a Grand Prix car and he is looking forward to finally lining up on the grid.
Davidson will replace Alex Yoong at Hungary and Belgium
‘This is a fantastic opportunity, as Formula One is something I’ve been dreaming about since I was a child,’ said 23-year-old Davidson. ‘I want to do a professional job for Paul Stoddart and the KL Minardi Asiatech team in Hungary, and my primary target is to qualify for the race. If I can do that in my first Grand Prix, I will be more than happy. I’ve not been to the Hungaroring before, so this will be a new experience for me.
‘I love learning new circuits, though, as it’s all part of the challenge of motor racing.’
Yoong, who has been mature and realistic about his performances, accepted the decision and said he would be working hard over the next month.
‘I accepted Paul’s decision, which resulted from a frank discussion with him,’ said the Malaysian. ‘It was a mutual decision, as both he and I felt a rest would be beneficial for me in the medium term. The breather will allow me to regroup and recharge in order to take on these challenges again.’
Stoddart said the decision to rest Yoong was not taken lightly and hoped to see the youngster develop after some intensive track work.
‘It has obviously been a difficult decision to ‘rest’ Alex for two races, but it’s clear he is struggling with his qualifying pace at the moment,’ he said. Ours is not a team that abandons its drivers, though, and it therefore seemed like the most constructive course of action was to let Alex have a short break from the pressure-laden environment of Formula One weekends.
‘During the intervening time between now and the Italian Grand Prix, he will take part in a testing programme tailored specifically to addressing any loss of confidence he may have suffered and to assisting him improve his qualifying performances, so that he can rejoin the team for the final three races of the season. It’s a tough call, but I believe the right one for Alex and his career.
‘We obviously welcome Anthony to the team and look forward to working with him in Hungary and Belgium.’
Az Arrows csapat nem indul a hétvégi Forma-1-es Magyar Nagydíjon. A súlyos anyagi problémákkal küszködő istálló üzleti tanácsadóira hallgatva lépett vissza a futamtól.
Az autókat és a felszerelést szállító, hétfőn útnak indult kamionok visszatértek a közép-angliai főhadiszállásra.
Az egyik pilóta, a német Heinz-Harald Frentzen augusztus 2-án bontott szerződést, mivel megunta a folyamatos anyagi gondok miatti bizonytalanságot. Internetes hírforrások szerint vasárnap a jelenleg a Renault tesztpilótájaként tevékenykedő spanyol Fernando Alonso indult volna helyette a Hungaroringen.
Frentzen és a brazil Enrique Bernoldi az utóbbi két viadal közül a Francia Nagydíjon csak az időmérő edzésen indult. A Német GP-n viszont rajthoz álltak, de kiestek.
Montoya not interested in Ferrari link-up

Colombian Formula One star Juan Pablo Montoya said late Wednesday that he was not interested in a potential link-up with five- time world champion Michael Schumacher at Ferrari next season - unless he could be number one with the "prancing horse" team. Montoya, who was talking with the Colombian media on a visit to his homeland for talks with sponsors, has impressed since joining the series last year and is currently second to Schumacher in the drivers' standings, albeit a whopping 66 points behind following his second place to the German at Hockenheim last Sunday.
"Going to Ferrari does not turn me on right now for the simple fact that Michael is number one and has that status laid down in his contract," Montoya explained. "He has the whole team working for him so there would be nothing to gain going there (and having) an inferior car. Driving for Ferrari is simple press speculation, which has no basis in reality. I know what I want in the future, which is to be in a winning team - and Williams is a winning team.”
Looking ahead to the next challenge in store, the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring on August the 18th, Montoya said he believed the track there did not favour him on the basis of a poor run of results there.
"This is a track I don't like - I don't feel too good on it and I don't have great memories of it - in 2001 I came eighth driving a car which had clear problems with balance," he noted.
Montoya, 27, has had six pole positions this season but has been unable to stop Schumacher racing to the title in record time or even to claim a race win. He will now look for a consolation win or two in the remaining races in Hungary, Belgium, Italy, the United States and Japan.
"I am not worried about winning one of those races which remain. In motor racing nothing is certain - you win some, you lose some. You get on pole and then nothing happens (in the race itself)," said Montoya, who noted he had often had a worse race after being on pole. "So it's sometimes better not to be first."
Montoya has been frustrated at the last in taking second place on four occasions this season in Australia, Malaysia, Spain and Germany. He also managed a podium finish in Austria and Britain. Montoya faces a challenge from fellow Latin American and Schumacher teammate, Brazil's Rubens Barrichello, as he looks to take runner-up spot in the drivers championship.
"I see Rubens as my main rival. He has the better car and I will have to fight hard against him in these races. Then there's Ralf - but he doesn't worry me."

De azért én még olyat nem láttam, hogy már az első kör után 3 másodperccel vezetett volna, aztán a többiek nem is látták többet...

- Az olaszok nem ostobák: gondolnak a jövőre, szükségük lenne Juan Pablóra - mondta Frank Williams csapatfőnök. - Michael Schumacher előbb-utóbb visszavonul, helyettesíteni kell valakivel, s erre a feladatra Montoya lenne a legalkalmasabb.
A világbajnokság 12. futama után a kolumbiai versenyző 40 ponttal a második, 66-tal marad el a már világbajnok német Michael Schumachertől.

Massa not impressed with team orders

auber driver Felipe Massa was a little upset with the team orders used in Sunday's German Grand Prix that saw him forced to yield to Nick Heidfeld losing sixth place and a consequent point in the process. According to reports in the Brazilian press, the young rookie tried to talk the team out of their decision, however they refused to budge and he was forced to make way for his German teammate.
There was no logical reason for the team to insist Massa give way for Heidfeld apart from the fact that it was his home race. Regardless of who crossed the line first, the team still would have secured sixth place and one more point for their quest to retain fourth place in the Constructors Championship. However, despite the reversal of positions, the young rookie is convinced that everyone watching knew the position was really his and that's what matters.
Massa's future in the pinnacle of Motorsports is thought to be seriously under threat with Peter Sauber confirming Heidfeld for another season yet keeping silent on Felipe's future. Reports prior to France quoted the Swiss team boss as saying he wanted an experienced driver in the seat for 2003 however, this has yet to be confirmed.
Azért (nem fikázásképp) annyit hozzátennék, hogy Monty a maga részéről érdekesen zárta le a csatát. Gondolok arra, hogy úgy tette magát a kanyarhoz, hogy Kimire bízta, vagy lefékez (ahogy helyesen megtette), vagy kiesnek mindketten.
Mégeccer mondom nem azt mondom hogy hibázott, köcsög volt vagy valami, csak elég merész volt, nem igen vállalta volna be mindenki.
