Baggies in bus bust-up
by Alex Livie - Last Updated 14 Sep 2004
West Brom boss Gary Megson has confirmed a number of his players and staff were involved in a flare-up on the team bus after Saturday's trip to Anfield.
The Baggies were still reeling from their mauling at the hands of Liverpool when an incident took place prior to the bus' departure.
Water is believed to have been squirted in the face of Thomas Gaardsoe which prompted an angry reaction from the Danish defender.
Blows are said to have been exchanged before players and staff intervened to calm the situation.
Megson was not present at the time of the incident, but was made aware of the situation and has ordered his players to take the day off on Monday in a bid to ease tension in the camp.
"There was an incident on the team bus," Megson told the Daily Mail. "I shall be trying to find out what happened.
"I've given the players the day off on Monday so that they can clear their minds and gather their thoughts ahead of this weekend's game against Fulham."
The Baggies have made a poor start to the campaign and Megson will look to use all his skills to unite the squad in a bid to avoid the drop.

Megson to probe 'bust-up'
West Brom manager Gary Megson plans to get to the bottom of an incident on the team bus that flared up after the defeat at Liverpool on Saturday.
Some jokey behaviour allegedly got out of hand when defender Thomas Gaardsoe had water squirted in his face.
"There was an incident on the team bus," admitted Megson. "I shall be trying to find out what happened.
"I've given the players the day off on Monday so they can clear their minds and gather their thoughts."
Megson was not on the team coach when the incident erupted but was alerted to it when he rejoined his players for the trip back to The Hawthorns.
It is another headache for the 45-year-old, whose future at the club remains unclear following rumours of a rift with the board over cash for players and his own contract.
However, Megson has played down the reports and said: "There is no friction between myself and the board.
"I have read a lot but none of it is emanating from me. All I can do is my job.
"I do not know what my future is, I do not have a crystal ball, nobody does. Nothing has been said to me about my future."

West Brom players in bus brawl
September 13, 2004
LONDON (AFP) - West Brom have launched an investigation into a brawl among players and coaching staff on the team bus after their weekend defeat at Liverpool.
"There was an incident on the team bus. I shall be trying to find out what happened," said West Brom manager Gary Megson.
Megson was not on the bus at the time as he was inside Anfield speaking to his assistant Frank Barlow.
The Daily Mail reported the incident began as horseplay but ended with two sides laying into each other.
Trouble flared as the bus waited to leave Anfield after the 3-0 defeat.
Danish defender Thomas Gaardsoe had water squirted in his face by a member of Megson's backroom staff. He lost his temper and a punch-up followed involving several players.
"I've given the players the day off so that they can clear their minds and gather their thoughts ahead of this weekend's game against Fulham," Megson added.
Megson has yet to sign a new contract at third from bottom West Brom and there was talk he could leave The Hawthornes to take over at Blackburn who have lost Graeme Souness to Newcastle United.
