Capriati has successful shoulder surgery
JENNIFER CAPRIATI UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL SHOULDER SURGERY TODAY
Jennifer Capriati underwent successful arthroscopic surgery in Wilmington, Delaware, today to repair a labrum tear in her right shoulder. The injury caused her to miss the 2005 Australian Open, concluding this weekend.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Craig Morgan at Wilmington Hospital Christiana Care Health Center.
I expect a complete recovery after rehabilitation, and once rehabilitation is through Jennifer can resume a full competitive schedule, Dr. Morgan said.
After surgery, Capriati requires five to seven days of complete rest. By the end of next week, she will start her rehabilitation. Jobbulást!
Jennifer will miss the first Grand Slam of the 2005 tennis season - Australian Open because of a shoulder injury.
Tournament organizers said Wednesday that Jennifer had advised the WTA that she'd failed to recover from a shoulder injury she sustained at the Advanta Championships in November. Jennifer is 2001 and 2002 Australian Open Champion and she missed the event last year also due to injury.
Her start of this season looks to be very similar to the last year's one when she appeared on the courts in Dubai for the first time. Jen's expecting to be back in Dubai late next month or March's Indian Wells, California event. Quick recovery Jen!
No Aussie Open for Capriati Capriati is still hurting. (AP) Jennifer Capriati will miss the Australian Open due to a shoulder injury, withdrawing from the grand slam event she won in 2001 and '02. Capriati sustained the injury at the Advanta Championships in November.
The 2005 tennis season doesn't start the way we all would desire. Jennifer wasn't sure in her participation at her first scheduled event Medibank International starting on Monday, January 10. Unfortunately she isn't in the singles draw released today so she was forced to withdraw. Jen is still suffering soreness in her right shoulder. She also missed an exhibition charity match against Maria Sharapova in 'Hurrican Tennis Slam' in Florida on December 17. Now she's in doubt for the first Grand Slam of the year Australian Open (she missed it in 2004 too). We can only hope that Jen's injury isn't very serious and she will be fit to compete in the new season. GET WELL SOON Jen! Take your time to recover if you need it! Don't push it and relax! We're still with you!
