SA Exclusive: Eriberto Hopes Lazio Deal Will Go Through ASAP
Raring to join the 'Biancoceleste'...Eriberto in action for Chievo (AP)
05/17/2002.
Highly regarded Chievo winger Eriberto has substantiated speculation that he is set for a summer switch to rebuilding Serie A giants Lazio, by announcing that he would like to see the deal push through as soon as possible.
"I urge Lazio and Chievo to reach an agreement as soon as possible so that I can go on vacation with the peace of mind that only comes with knowing where I will return to," said the scintillating Brazilian wide-man, who played a starring role in the Flying Donkey's fairytale Uefa Cup-qualifying campaign.
"I would be happy to join Lazio. At the age of 23 I feel that I am ready for a big club. It would be a great opportunity for me.
"It would be nice to work with Mancini next season," he added. "I know that he admires me, because he has been at our training sessions many times during this season. And I believe a lot in Cragnotti's project, because especially after a negative season, he wants to build a great team."
Eriberto's agent confirmed that Lazio are favourites to land the in-demand Brazilian talent: "Lazio are favorites over Juventus and Roma to sign Eriberto because Cragnotti is determined to buy Manfredini as well."
As SoccerAge exclusively reported earlier this week, Lazio are within whiskers of officially completing the coup for the wing-wizards, after allegedly having had a $22 million euro bid for the pair accepted by Chievo.
Reports in Italy over the last couple of days suggested that the Brazilian international could be on his way after a rift over his current deal.
Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid were said to be considering bids but Moratti has rubbished transfer talk by confirming the striker.
"Ronaldo is not on the market," he underlined. "I have no information which suggests otherwise and I’m keen for this story to end."
One of Ronaldo’s agents hit out at the San Siro giants earlier this week, claiming that the player was unhappy at the underachieving club and wanted an improved pay deal.
The former PSV man’s contract is drawing to its conclusion but the option for another five years is set to be taken up as soon as the two parties can agree over his new salary.
Meanwhile, Moratti has maintained that Inter have not concluded a deal to sign international stopper Nesta.
Some reports across Europe yesterday stated that the Nerazzurri had wrapped up talks for the Lazio defender but Moratti has confirmed there is no truth in the claims.
"We haven’t completed a deal for him and I don’t think any other club have either," he added. "We do need to make a few improvements over the summer in a bid to make the side a bit more secure."
Nesta had looked almost certain to stay at Lazio but Inter and Juventus are increasing the pressure on the Olimpico side to sell.
The Bianconeri have already had a cash and player offer of Edgar Davids and Mark Iuliano rejected.
Inter could make a similar bid by including Marco Materazzi who has asked the Nerazzurri for an increased pay deal after his excellent first season with the side.
Signing Parma defender Fabio Cannavaro is turning out to be a struggle according to Milan chief Adriano Galliani.
The Italian defender has asked his current club to be sold but as yet neither Juventus nor Milan have managed to conclude for the stopper.
"Talks for Cannavaro are languishing and I think that market values need to decrease drastically and quickly," stated Galliani.
Milan had seemingly taken the advantage over Juventus for the former Napoli man but Galliani’s comments seem to have put the Bianconeri back in the driving seat.
Meanwhile, Galliani held a two-hour meeting with Inter President Massimo Moratti last night over possible transfer dealings.
It has been confirmed that the Nerazzurri are interested in Francesco Coco – who will return to Milan from Barcelona after his loan spell.
He could be included in a swap deal which will see Clarence Seedorf move from the blue to the red half of the city.
Inter are also said to have requested Serginho but have been told that the Brazilian is unavailable for transfer.
Galliani was also asked about the transfer speculation surrounding Alessandro Nesta. "We could buy him with Inter and whoever plays at home could use him," he joked.
Seedorf possible arrival to Milan can make Rui Costa leave. His cost is 35 millions euro. After offering to Juventus, GAlliani is now intentioned to give him just in change of cash and Manchester United seems willing to take him. If Veron lesves the Red Devils, Ferguson will do his best to get the Portuguese.
From Lucio to Meuville, how many demands for the jewels of the Bayer München, Moratti tries to blow it to the Bayern München. And the Parma offers 7,5 million euro for Vranjes.
Zanetti Christian has looked at itself to deny the new contract: "I feel myself on the market and I know that the Rome is much assets".
While it insists also with Barcelona for having Kluivert. With Vieri the tridente of the wonders would be born even if Cuper is skeptical

PRAGUE, May 15 (AFP)
Former Manchester United midfielder Karel Poborksy is to end his six-year exile by returning home to the Czech Republic to play for Sparta Prague
The 30-year-old Czech international midfielder, released by Lazio at the end of this season, told a press conference on Wednesday he had signed a one-year deal.
Poborsky, who has won 76 caps and scored four goals for his country, said that after six years playing with Manchester United, Benfica and Lazio, he was ready to return home for family reasons.
He secured his lucrative move to Manchester after playing a major role in helping the Czechs to the final of the 1996 European Championships.
He spent two years at Old Trafford from 1996-1998 before moving to Portugal and then joining up with teammate Pavel Nedved at Lazio.
However, he endured a torrid time in Rome where he spent most of his time in the reserves after falling foul of the system employed by coach Alberto Zaccheroni.
Inter sign Italian star Alessandro Nesta
MILAN, May 15 (DS)
By Filippo Zucchi
Italian superstar Alessandro Nesta commented the following about his future while resting in Azzurri technical resort Coverciano (near Florence) a couple of days ago: "I know were I will go next year". Meanwhile, today Nerazzurri manager reported Nesta has signed a big deal with Inter Milan, but the details of the contract are still kept in secret as the club officials alongside with the player have decided to keep the deal under silence till the end of the World Cup. The Massimo Moratti side are currently negotiating the details with SS Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti and the deal is likely to be completed for 60 ml Euros. Inter will transfer central defender Marco Materazzi to Lazio to cover a part of this amount. The Nerazzurri are considered to be the favorites of the Italian transfer market and have already managed to close two other deals (not official): one with Atalanta’s defensive midfielder Luciano Zauri, born in 1978 and the other with 24-year-old Simone Perrotta, one of Chievo Verona midfield talents.
Inter offer J18m for Kewell
MILAN, May 11 (DS) - Inter FC have opened the summer bidding war for Harry Kewell with an ?18m offer for Leeds United AFC's Aussie international Kewell, the Mirror stated.
Last night Australian sources close to Kewell confirmed that the Italian club - who tossed away the Serie A title to Juventus last weekend - have sent an official bid to Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale.
Inter have been tracking the 23-year-old for the last 12 months, following his sparkling displays in the UEFA Cup and Champions League.
And they are banking on the growing friendship between Kewell and top Italian agent Giovanni Branchini to assist lure the midfielder to the San Siro.
Branchini has developed a close association with Kewell's Australian-based representatives IMG and the Leeds star recently admitted his contacts with the Italian who helped lure Brazilian Ronaldo to Inter.
Kewell is understood to be having Italian and Spanish lessons as he looks to realise his ambition of playing on the continent. He is likely to prefer a move to the Serie A and could well be making his final Leeds appearance against Middlesbrough at Elland Road this afternoon.
His fiancee, Emmerdale actress Cherie Murphy, claimed recently in a magazine interview that Kewell is "desperate to play in Italy" and she is ready to leave her acting career to go with him.
Last night Leeds insisted there has been no official contact with Milan, but the Italians were one of the bidders turned down last season. But Leeds need to decrease costs after David O'Leary's fruitless J100m spending spree over the last three years and may now be willing to sell.
A provokátorok kérem azonnal távozzanak a topicból, különben a kimoderálás szörnyű érzése jut nekik osztályrészül. Ha valaki nem vette volna észre, ezt fenyegetésnek szántam.
