Natasha St-Pier is one of a wave of French Canadian divas following in the steps of Céline Dion to international stardom. She was born on 10 February 1981, Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada.

Her parents encouraged her talent from an early age. She performed her first concert at eight and in 1993 she was the youngest contestant to win a French Canadian talent show.

In 1999 she had one of the leading parts in the Canadian cast of the musical Notre-Dame de Paris. In two years she achieved fame on both sides of the Atlantic and was selected to sing for France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001, where she came 4th.
