Kezman confusion
Monday, 02 February 2004
Mateja Kezman claims he will consider moving to a 'lesser' team before attempting to join one of Europe's elite clubs.
Kezman revealed recently that he is looking to leave PSV Eindhoven in the summer, comments which are sure to have alerted long-term suitors Barcelona, Manchester United and a clutch of other European sides.
Despite proving himself a regular scorer at the highest level, the Serbo-Montenegrin feels he may be better served by joining a lesser club before making the jump to a major stage.
"Maybe I have to go to a smaller club in Europe, to make a new step to secure a deal at a top European team such as Manchester United or Barcelona," Kezman told Algemeen Dagblad.
Kezman's claim may well lead to some confused looks at the Philips Stadion, as the Dutch club feel they are in the second tier of teams in Europe behind the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona.
And, Kezman may find it difficult to resist an offer from the Barcelonas of this world if they come calling in the summer.
Despite making confusing comments about his future, Kezman is adamant that he will leave PSV in the summer.
"I have done all I can at PSV," he continued. "Top goalscorer, titles, Player of the Year. It's time for a new challenge.
"If I stay it will be difficult for me to keep motivated."
Ha úgyis elmegy, remélem nagyot kaszálunk rajta. |

Kezman ready for summer move
Friday, 30 January 2004
Mateja Kezman has admitted his wage demands will prompt PSV Eindhoven to offload him in the summer.
The Serbo-Montenegrin is one of the most vaunted strikers in Europe, having shown a penchant for scoring vital goals both in Europe and De Eredivisie.
Kezman is key to PSV manager Guus Hiddink's plans for pipping Ajax to the Eredivisie title this term, but it would appear he has little chance of retaining his services after the summer.
The striker's contract runs until 2005 and he has failed to give consideration to offers put to him by PSV's paymasters.
With the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona and a clutch of Italian sides all monitoring his progress, PSV may decide to cash in on his services in the summer.
"PSV can no longer afford me," Kezman told Eindhovens Dagblad. "The wage that I am demanding is beyond them.
"The wage I want is some way from what they are paying me at the moment.
"All this tells me it is best for everyone if I leave PSV this summer."
