Mostovoi back to health
There was also some welcome news for Russia as it was announced that their influential playmaker Aleksandr Mostovoi should be fit for the opening Group H match against Tunisia after recovering from a hamstring injury. Slovenia were also given a boost as key defender Marinko Galic completed a full training session for the first time since suffering an injury two weeks ago.

| Mosztovojra nagy szükség van, remélem felépül, bár azért szerencsére a középpályán sok yo játékos van. |

Mostovoi scare for Russia
Monday 20 May 2002
Russia’s FIFA World Cup hopes suffered a potentially serious setback with the news that their captain and influential playmaker, Alexander Mostovoi, is struggling to be fit for the start of the tournament.
Out for ten days
Mostovoi limped off the field after hurting his right hip in the opening minutes of yesterday's friendly against Yugoslavia and said afterwards: "I can feel it is something serious." According to doctors, he could be out of action for up to ten days which means he will struggle to be fit for Russia's first World Cup Group H game against Tunisia on 5 June.
Semshov's solid display
Mostovoi insisted he would still be part of Russia's World Cup squad, which is to be announced later today. In the game against Yugoslavia - which Russia lost on penalties after a 1-1 draw - Mostovoi was replaced by FC Torpedo Moscow midfielder Igor Semshov, who impressed in just his second appearance for Russia.
Award winner
Mostovoi, who plays for RC Celta de Vigo in Spain, received the 'Russian national team leader' award for the 2001 season before the game. He has played 59 times for Russia, scoring 12 goals.
