"I thank you for the concern and the support that I constantly receive, even more after having taken part in the Miami tournament. I was not in the best emotional conditions due to a family member's health problems. It was not, in any way, an excuse for the defeat, although it was difficult for me to focus on tennis. Luckily all is already better. Now is the time to be with my family.

"The stretch I started in February has a positive balance, despite the left wrist injury. I visited Dr. Richard Berger before playing Indian Wells and I continue with the treatment he recommended me. After taking some rest, I will start training on clay in order to come back to the Tour.

"As always, thanks for the respect of those who follow my career. I will continue to train with the objective of getting closer to those ahead of me in the rankings and to fight in the big tournaments."

NOTE: The diagnosis was "grade 1 sprain of attachments of the dorsal radiocarpal and dorsal intercarpal ligaments", according to what was indicated by Dr. Berger.
