Van egy nagy ellentmondás jehova papjai mai és korábbi állításai között.

 

Korábban azt állították, hogy az Úr Russell testvért tette uralkodóvá javai fölé.

 

8 - “Brother Russell . . . was made ruler over all the Lord's goods.” (WT, 1 March 1923, 68,71)

Ezt a jogot beleértve az imádat jogát is akkor szerintük Russell a halála után is gyakorolta:

 

3 - „Charles Taze Russell, thou hast, by the Lord, been crowned a king; and through the everlasting ages thy name shall be known amongst the people, and thy enemies shall come and worship at thy feet.” (WT, 1 December 1916, 376-377)

Azt tanították, hogy halála után Russell az égben elfoglalta méltó helyét a hét angyal egyikeként

Pál apostol mellett:
