Other Publications

The LDWA has a long history of providing information about the UK's extensive network of long distance walking routes. A new LDWA directory of UK long distance footpaths was published in 2009 in conjunction with Cicerone - see UK Trailwalker’s Handbook. LDP News in 'Strider' gives regular updates on new routes and LDP publications, link paths, changes and improvements. The first Long Distance Walkers' Handbook, by Barbara Blatchford, came out in 1980 and its 7th edition, published in 2002, contained brief details of over 600 Long Distance Paths (LDPs) throughout the UK (start and finish, OS Maps required, waymarking, if any, available guidebooks, websites, Tourist Information Centres and other sources of information).

Companion to the 2002 edition of the Handbook is the Long Distance Paths Chart, a map of Britain indicating the routes of the 600 long distance paths. This is available from the Shop or from LDWA Merchandise, Tim Glenn, 2 Sandy Lane, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 3GS.
