On August 8, 2010, Nina Wolmark reached an agreement with Lions Gate Entertainment for the movie production company to begin development of a script which could be made into the first film within a trilogy. Tentative schedule is for script to complete review by 4th quarter 2011. Film would commence pre-production in 2012. The first film is to focus on the early life and person of Spartakus and will be a prequel to the events which take place in the animated show. UPDATE - Greenligth Act I & II storyboard reviews, mid-June 2012. UPDATE - Pre-production canceled; Development suspended indefinitely per inability to secure film copyrights.
