GILLINGHAM 2 CHELSEA 4
Chelsea coasted to a 3-0 halftime lead thanks to a third
minute goal from Iceland's Eidur Gudjohnsen followed by two from
Dane Jesper Gronkjaer.
The introduction of Iffy Onuora after the interval
transformed Gillingham who scored through Paul Shaw five minutes
after the break.
Frank Leboeuf then brought down Shaw, conceded a free kick
and was stretchered off the field. Carlo Cudicini deflected
Nicky Southall's free kick and Onuora was on hand to score.
Gillingham pressed hard but Gudjohnsen put the result beyond
doubt in extra time.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0 WEST HAM 1
Paolo Di Canio sent the Cup favourites crashing out of the
competition when he outwitted the United defence and pushed the
ball past Fabien Barthez in the 75th minute.
West Ham, who had not won at Old Trafford since 1986, held
firm against the United strike force who could have scored twice
through Ryan Giggs while Teddy Sheringham had a shot cleared off
the line.

DAGENHAM AND REDBRIDGE 0 CHARLTON ATHLETIC 1
Garry Hill's non-leaguers dominated the early stages on a
bobbly Victoria Road pitch. But premier league Charlton
gradually settled and held out until extra time. They then
caught their hosts with a sucker punch, Shaun Newton netting in
the first minute of the extra period, and it proved enough to
clinch the tie. Charlton host Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth
round.

LEEDS UNITED 0 LIVERPOOL 2
Robbie Fowler inspired Liverpool to a flattering win by
laying on two late goals. Nick Barmby broke the deadlock after
88 minutes when he fired in the rebound after Fowler's low shot
came off a post. In time added on, Fowler's fine pass again
found Barmby and he laid the ball to Emile Heskey who thumped in
his 16th of the season. Leeds had two efforts cleared off the
line and a strong penalty shout denied on a day of frustration.

ASTON VILLA 1 LEICESTER CITY 2
Villa's Darius Vassell was sent off early at Villa Park and
Ade Akinbiyi put Leicester ahead in the Midlands derby after 42
minutes. City then had Callum Davidson redcarded before
halftime. Julian Joachim levelled for Villa with 14 minutes left
but a crashing shot from Arnar Gunnlaugsson with seven minutes
left gave the visitors victory. It was Villa's sixth loss in
eight games

BRISTOL CITY 1 KINGSTONIAN 1
Phil Wingfield had the non-leaguers dreaming of place in the
fifth round when he rounded the goalkeeper and fired high into
the net from a tight angle after 57 minutes. But in the final
minute Tony Thorpe levelled for second division City to secure a
replay.

EVERTON 0 TRANMERE ROVERS 3
Everton dominated the match early on but were rocked when
Steve Yates headed Rovers ahead in the all-Merseyside clash.
Matters got worse for Everton when Jason Koumas's looping shot
made it 2-0 before halftime. Everton's frustrated fans then
watched in disbelief as Yates headed Tranmere's third after 62
minutes to complete a sweet victory for the first division side.

MANCHESTER CITY 1 COVENTRY CITY 0
An ugly clash between two of the premier league's strugglers
produced little flowing football. John Eustace twice went close
for Coventry but Shaun Goater decided the match in the final
minute with a fine header.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS 0 ARSENAL 6
Arsenal showed the gulf between the premier league and the
first division by outclassing their London rivals. Arsene
Wenger's side cleared an effort off their own line on the
half-hour, went straight up the other end and QPR's Chris
Plummer put through his own net for their first. Sixty seconds
later Sylvain Wiltord's shot deflected into the Rangers net.
Ex-Arsenal player Matthew Rose compounded the home side's
misery by putting an Ashley Cole cross into his own goal after
49 minutes to make it 3-0. Wiltord volleyed his second (56) and
Robert Pires (58) and Dennis Bergkamp (74) wrapped up Arsenal's
win.

SOUTHAMPTON 3 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1
Southampton completed a Sheffield double after beating
United in the third round. Kevin Davies gave them the lead after
11 minutes before Andy Booth's effort trickled in for
Wednesday's equaliser midway through the second half. Jason Dodd
converted a penalty with 10 minutes left to give Southampton the
lead again and James Beattie completed the scoring in the final
minute.

SUNDERLAND 1 IPSWICH TOWN 0
Reserve striker Daniele Dichio produced a clever diving
header after 23 minutes for the decisive goal. He also hit the
post in the second half.

WYCOMBE WANDERERS 2 WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS 1
Second division Wycombe, managed by Wimbledon's 1988 FA Cup
final goal hero Lawrie Sanchez, reached the fifth round for the
first time thanks to Sam Parkin's 85th-minute winner. Andy
Rammell scored from a corner to hand the home side a 37th-minute
lead before Carl Robinson's header after 59 minutes gave Wolves
false hope.
