A biztató kezdés ellenére a vártnál jóval kevésbé fogy Jennifer Lopez legújabb albuma, a Rebirth. Sokan úgy gondolják, erről leginkább maga J.Lo tehet, amiért nem népszerűsíti koncertturnéval a lemezt.
Bár az énekesnő ötödik albuma a Billboard-lista második helyén kezdett, három héttel a megjelenés után már csak hatvanezer példány kelt el belőle az Egyesült Államokban, és ez a csalódást keltő hetedik helyre volt elég.
Ugyan az első kislemez, a Get Right Nagy-Britanniában vezette a slágerlistát, a Rebirth az albumlistán jelenleg már csak a huszonhatodik, és a legjobb helyezése a nyolcadik volt. És más európai országokban jobban szerepel ugyan J.Lo lemeze (Magyarországon például a harmadik), az összesített eladási adatok mégsem teszik boldoggá az énekesnőt.
"Jennifer rendkívül elkeseredett. A számok azt mutatják, hogy csökken a népszerűsége" - idéz egy név nélkül nyilatkozó forrást a brit Daily Record című bulvárlap. "Az elmúlt időben a filmekkel sincs nagy sikere, így nagyon fel van dúlva" - tette hozzá.
Meg kell még említeni, hogy egyes elemzések nem feltétlenül magát a lemezt hibáztatják a vártnál alacsonyabb eladási adatok miatt, hanem J.Lo azon elhatározását, hogy nem indult koncertturnéra az album megjelenése apropóján. Egy sikeres turné ugyanis vélhetően jobban eladta volna a Rebirth-t, amelyhez egyébként a három év után visszatérő Lopez komoly reményeket fűzött.
Jennifer Lopez will unveil her next studio album, "Rebirth," March 1 via Epic. First single "Get Right" was produced by Rich Harrison and will premiere New Year's Eve on MTV. AOL's First Listen initiative will begin streaming it the following day, while the accompanying music video will debut Jan. 6 on MTV, BET and Fuse.
The set was co-produced by Lopez with longtime collaborator Cory Rooney. Fabolous guests on a second version of "Get Right," while Lopez's husband, Marc Anthony, and rapper Fat Joe appear on as-yet-unnamed tracks. Among the confirmed song titles are "Still Around," "Cherry Pie," "Hold You Down" and "Step Into My World."
"Rebirth" is the follow-up to 2002's "This Is Me...Then," which peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 2.5 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Last week, Lopez announced the launch of a new fragrance, Miami Glow by J.Lo. Select department stores will begin selling the product Dec. 17; it will be available nationally in February.

They said it wouldn't last. Turns out that they were right.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, perhaps the most heavily scrutinized, most persistently watched celebrity couple of the past decade, called it quits Tuesday. Lopez's publicist confirmed the breakup Thursday.
According to Us Weekly, which broke the story on its Web site, Lopez, 33, spent her first single night dining with business advisers at Hollywood eatery Mortons. Affleck, 31, a frequent presence in Las Vegas, was spotted gambling into the wee hours at a Los Angeles-area casino.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Hollywood celebrity couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have split up, at least temporarily, after postponing their wedding over a media frenzy, People magazine reported on Sunday.
The magazine's Web site, http://people.aol.com, quoted unidentified sources as saying Affleck decided he wanted out of the relationship, but it was not certain if the break-up will be permanent.
Representatives for the pair could not be reached for comment. People magazine reported that the representatives said they had no knowledge of the break-up.
The pair, who reportedly planned to wed on Sunday at an estate in the hills near Santa Barbara, California, said in a joint statement last Wednesday that they had postponed the nuptials because of unwanted publicity.
Lopez, 33, and Affleck, 31, are currently America's hottest celebrity couple, but doubts were cast over their engagement when stories surfaced in tabloids and magazines last month about Affleck visiting a strip club without Lopez in July. Lopez publicly shrugged off Affleck's night out.
The couple also suffered bad publicity when their first movie together, "Gigli," was panned by critics and flopped at the box office in the summer.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Engaged actors Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, one of America's most famous celebrity couples, will marry on Sept. 14, according to reports published on Wednesday.
Us Weekly magazine and New York's Daily News quoted unidentified friends as saying the nuptials -- the third for Lopez, who is also known as J.Lo, and the first for Affleck -- will take place near Santa Barbara, California.
Representatives of the couple could not immediately be reached and the Daily News said agents declined comment.
The magazine said the exact location was a secret, but it quoted an unidentified source familiar with the plans as saying the nuptials will take place on a hillside "maybe at a winery."
It said about 400 guests received invitations by phone last week and details will be hand-delivered four days before the wedding. A guest said Santa Barbara is "convenient for a lot of their friends," according to the report.
Lopez, 33, and Affleck, 31, starred this summer together in "Gigli," in which Lopez plays a lesbian crook who helps Affleck in a kidnapping plot.

No smoke without fire they say, and if the stripper in the Ben Affleck saga is to be believed there was plenty of heat. Tammy Morris confirmed that she and three other lapdancers 'frolicked' with Affleck on a night out in a Vancouver strip bar. 'It's a night I'll never forget and I'm sure one he'll want to forget,' Ms Morris revealed. 'He had this little boy look on his face.' Perhaps the same look as when fiancée J.Lo got to hear about the incident. She too had been filming in Canada, the couple spending most weekends together, but flew home to Los Angeles in tears earlier this week, ripping off her engagement ring as she went. Talkative Tammy described how Affleck gave her a large tip and told her: 'Keep this just between us.' Cue a visit to the National Enquirer. Back at actor Christian Slater's house 'one of the girls took off his shirt,' and 'his hands were all over two girls at the same time.'
Reports now suggest Affleck's engagement to Lopez is off - something which distresses ex-husband Cris Judd as much as it makes him laugh like a loon. 'Jen is getting back what she gave,' said the dancer, who was still married to Lopez when she and Affleck started seeing each other. 'I hate to see her hurt but I was devastated when I found out about her and Ben, and now she knows how it feels. She is getting what she deserves.' A series of heated phonecalls between Jen and Ben followed the stripping incident, and since then the couple have not been seen together. But publicity waits for no man. A recent interview with Affleck has just been published, in which he talks about current turkey Gigli. 'We tried to fix it but it was like putting a fish's tail on a donkey's head.' You're sure you're talking about the film, Ben?"

Firing her former manager Benny Medina has cost J.Lo more than just money. Jen is blaming Benny for costing her the front cover of US Vogue. 'She seems to think that Benny was once snubbed by [Vogue writer] Andre Leon Talley, and consequently refused all requests for J.Lo to be in the magazine,' says an insider.
However, nothing could be that straightforward in the life of the amply-bottomed one. Jen did a shoot for Vogue in 1999 but a Vogue source explained editor Anna (nuclear) Wintour thought the Latina lovely looked too trashy. 'Jennifer was styled by all the top stylists, she was suppose to be the Millennium Girl and it was going to be huge. But nothing happened. Anna didn't call because she had decided Jennifer 'wasn't Vogue material''. Upset at being destined never to grace the front cover, Lopez is reported to have called Wintour in person, but her calls were never returned.
Vogue spokesman Patrick O'Connell said, 'From the beginning we said it was a cover try and that it might not work out. As it happened the sitting didn't come together and we weren't able to run the pictures. The pictures just didn't work,' he said. 'If Jennifer did call Anna, she couldn't have got the message because she would have called her back.'
